I used to watch him when I was a kid in the early 80’s. Threw a ring over his head. The poem he recited while balancing the rose made an impression on me. So sorry to hear that he has passed.

EJC 2002 (!) Bremen, Germany. I can still remember that performance very well. :-) It was pure coincidence that he was there. Opposite the gala show hall was a circus where Mario Berousek performed. The organizers simply asked if he would also like to take part in the EJC show.

Just thought of him. Sorry to hear he's been gone awhile. Thanks for the video. I guess I was priviledged to see him several times during my two visits to San Francisco in the early 80's. I remember the butterfly outfit. A guy who could make you laugh to help relieve the stresses of the day.

If you have ever played in a pit orchestra for opera companies, you know that some of the toughest music occurs toward the end - that's when you are really tired but must keep your concentration because you can't let up. This routine reminds me of that. The impressive parts are toward the end and it's so easy to lose your focus and drop something - it only takes a split second. In any case, it was still impressive.
