Bloody Americans stop pronouncing Samhain wrong. It's sah - win or sow - wen. There are regional variations on the pronunciation but it is NEVER SAMHAIN.

You're right; Samhain is sort of a root of Halloween. It's probably more associated with it than it really should be, but it has some cool history- definitely builds on the Pooka legends.
