Thank you so much for posting this. No one can really know how vast and impressive this place is until you walk or drive it, but this excellent video on the perfect day is just wonderful. As a child 60 years ago, we could only admire the caldera from Highway 4. You can imagine the thrill when it was opened to everyone. Storm on!!!

I've read it's best to go with a vehicle with 4x4... any tips that you can give, perhaps what to carry in the vehicle in case someone gets stuck? Thank you

Growing up in Cheyenne my father would take me hunting at a property up in the canyon where he knew the owner. Nice memories. Thanks for posting.

The cabin, the Mishawaka, Grey Rock, the narrows, Rustic, all the way up to Chambers Lake, and another favorite drive all the way up Long Draw road...spent several different weeks in the Poudre. Can't wait to go back!

My aunt and uncle own a cabin in the Poudre Canyon right on the road and river. So gorgeous and peaceful. Can't wait to go back

26:15 As I recall, there was a great drive-in called the Owl Inn at 8th and Central. In the late 50's early 60's the great entertainment for highschoolers was to drive through the Owl Inn, then down central, across the railroad viaduct to the A&W drive-in, through there, end back north again, over and over. Modesto wasn't the only town with "American Graffitti" type lives.

Great video - once you get towards town, say 20:00. Try 1.5x viewing speed to see how it would have been driven back then. At 24:13 at Carlson, on the right (west) there used to be a riding stable and horse pasture until the late 60's. Stewardess trainees from the United Airlines Stewardess school would come down on weekends to be taken on horseback rides by any of us hanging around the stables.

I'm surprised that this route was open in March. I would have thought that several of the draws, particularly on the east side, would have been drifted full of snow and impassible. Shows what I know. I did notice several breaks in the continuity along the route. What happened there? A stop for some reason? Thanks.

Nice video. We are "Original Transcon RR" fans, so visit sites and artifacts. Nice quality film. too. Thanks, and we would love to visit Dale Creek Bridge site... However, it is on private property. Subscribed, and comment welcome.
