every one of her albums went to number one and has best selling classical album debut and is very known and sang with some of the best known opera singers like andrea bocelli josh groban ronan keating etc and is out of the limelight now but made a impact. and in the industry people have said she has one of the best voices theres a reason her debut album was named pure and her classical album called paradiso she worked with one of the best classical movie composers Ennio Morricone some of the music he did for movie scores he added lyrics to as well as hayley writing lyrics for the album and he said hayley is the only singer he allowed to sing to his music

I've listened to just about every soprano singing O Mio babbino and with no dis-respect, I think there are very few that sings this song like Hayley Westenra does.

There is no distance, no sea, just a longing to be. Don't you remember Wordsworth's writing that being born is but a forgetting and "Trailing clouds of glory do we come." And when we've crossed Tennyson's "bar," we'll see at last the one we cherish most of all.

Hayley Westenra is the best soprano in the world with perfect pitch.
How remarkably beautiful your sentiments are! To share, as a child I once was blessed with hearing the Blessed Mother laugh! Her laughter was the sound of beautiful chimes. This occurred in church during Mass where I repeatedly pondered Her clothes ,blue and white comparing them to another almost identical statue. I figured they were both statues of the Blessed Mother, but that was how she changed her clothes. She told me to ask my mother. The second statue was in fact St Margaret.❤

"The sea takes back its own. As life began in the sea, so must all life return to a final resting place." "I'd heard rumors about ocean graveyards like that one, but I never thought I'd see it here in Manoa Lai. ...What? You haven't heard of them? Seriously? Listen, we can't call that an ocean graveyard. It creeps me out. Let's call it "Ship's Rest." That's kinda nice."

After listening to this a 2nd time ( like finally scratching an itch that you haven't been able to reach for some time) It strikes me there is probably a "back story that might prove interesting behind Puccini's writing of this song.....if I ever find it....I'll come back and share. Such lovely elements from Hayley'sn voice to the chord structure and movement. Just all around perfect AND touching! I know within the opera it has something to do with a Daughter's relation to her Father.

I think that the Japanese, whom we, in the Canadian navy, loved & admired so much, are affectionately connected to Hayley. We had good times in Sasebo & Yokosuka in the '50s. I never once heard a negative word spoken against the good people of Japan. And we were, after all, strangers there. Some were so attached to Sasebo that they talked of it, years later, as though it were in a dream.
