I just watched the part of him singing Here Comes the Flood at least four times in a row. Wow! Never seen Peter perform it standing in front of the audience, in his 'Genesis pose' and using his hands to depict the lyrics like he did in the early 70s. Fabulous stuff! Also, Back in N.Y.C was incendiary! If only there existed even one video bootleg of a complete or nearly complete show from this first tour...!! The quality here was pretty good, so cool.

He performed that song twice. He opened the show solo at piano singing the 1st verse/chorus before the band launched into On the Air, then he came back to it near the end of the show. I wasn't set up in time to shoot the 1st version...

Thank you for clearing that out because that's what I had heard just recently that he opened the show with Here Comes the Flood on the piano and so seeing this I was just a bit confused, lol. This makes sense then! @@25million

He often opened his tours in Rochester. Maybe because of Tony's relationship with Rochester?

Fascinating... it must have been really daunting to start a new career after leaving genesis. I saw his solo show for the first time in 1979 at the Reading Festival with Phil Collins. Hopefully a new album and tour coming soon... Fingers very crossed.

From Rael leathers and Slipperman costume, etc. to a jogging suit. Quite a change! He "walked right out of the machinery" of Genesis into machinery of his own making and control, after his hiatus. Peter is a phenomenal creative force. Thanks for posting this rare and amazing footage!

I expected Peter's early shows to be more theatrical. They appear to be quite bland. I prefer his early Genesis days myself.

this was first tour in US 1977. Very little money went into stage production. He wanted to shy away from all that since the Genesis days. However, it just went uphill from there, and as the records sold more and more, and he got "free" of the Genesis debt he could throw everything in plus the kitchen sink. Me myself feels that all of PGs music is of the intimate club/theatre kind and not that Arena giant he later became. His often somber and ambient music didn't and don't fare that well on huge audiences, the intimacy gets lost. Bland they werent...

I and I eyes are open to the truth. Rastafari no work for Babylon. Jah provides all for I and I. Your dollars are paper that you cannot eat. How then will paper buy food when there is no more food to sell. Eat Ceasar's paper dollars. I and I will cultivate and thrive over the guidance of JAH.
