This is special, for my ex wife, who understands me. The jerk she’s with will NEVER know her as I do. Thank you Neil Diamond for your heartfelt songs.

I first heard Neil diamond in 1970 I was 12. He had his first hit in the UK top 20 I think k it was just before Xmas, crackling Rosie. I am now 66, and still love his music, my favourite album is johnathon livingston seagull. What music he has given to us all.

The “stones” are her hard thoughts, or hard things to think about. The basic theme is this woman he loves so deeply, having a difficult time with her issues, or maybe even loving anyone, But the two of them attempting to negotiate thru life anyway.

“Parents rarely let go of their children, so children let go of them. They move on. They move away. The moments that used to define them are covered by moments of their own accomplishments. It is not until much later, that children understand; their stories and all their accomplishments, sit atop the stories of their mothers and fathers, stones upon stones, beneath the water of their lives.” Paul Coelho
