Hi could you make video about rhododendrons for small gardens please? I like the foliage combination on your website a lot.

Why not offer that tree in the pot to someone who has space and would like to have it, instead of killing it. There are a number of places you can post for free, or even take a little payment. I always hate to see plants killed ::(. I garden in Portland, close in the city, very similar to your neighborhood and your lot. Great to see how your garden is growing and transforming. I do love lots of plantings as well but I don't have as many plants as you or as nice as yours so far :) I hope you do a video showing your Fall 2024 garden as well.

I have a notebook that I make notes throughout the year of the things that worked and didn't work , what needs to be moved, tossed, etc. It is kind of therapy for me. Also helps me take note of what I need to fill gaps or not. Love to see you go through this process.

Hi Darcy! Just found your website, which then led me here! Great videos, really enjoy 'walking' through your garden. I'm just up the 5, in Seattle area, along the Sound. Currently renovating some existing beds, including a south-facing terrace slope, woodland, creek, and shade areas. I've got a little bit of everything! Hoping to find some planting plans on your web page. Thanks! And may the slugs and snails leave your tender plants alone!

Instead of killing the tree, why not remove it and offer it free to someone local that would want to come pick it up and give it a second chance?
@eGardenGo5 ай бұрын
Well, this technically IS possible, it is not possible for ME. It is larger than it looks, and it would be a very physical job. So while I could hire somebody to do it, that just doesn’t pencil out.

Glad it was helpful! Even though I love to show the pretty version of my garden, I do think it’s important to show some of the ugly and or in-process bits.

I've learned the hard way that all large containers must be widest at the very top, so that its easy to remove big plants when they've outgrown the container, whether they're going to be planted elsewhere or discarded.

In an ideal world 🌎 for sure! 👍
@sheilalindsey50685 ай бұрын
Yes I agree but this is a Japanese maple, which does not mind its roots trimmed. This tree most likely would survive being removed from this pot.

Wonderful video. Just an idea, would you be able to trellis the rose higher to allow more light in the bed below? Such a lovely garden.

Yes, probably. The thought of constructing, or having it constructed, is bit overwhelming at the moment 😵💫

Your garden is so beautiful! Your planting style is so similar to mine. I live in Western North Carolina which is somewhat similar in climate to the PNW. Rhododendrons grow like crazy over here and I love it! Thank you for sharing your garden. I feel like I could watch your videos on repeat and get so many ideas!

Nice, wide hell strip. I am concerned about how passenger-side folks will get out of the cars. Seems a good idea to include a 2ft hard edge to step onto.
@eGardenGo6 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching. There is a strip to accommodate pedestrians on the street side. Usually it is my husband and I parking there, so we’re quite familiar with the terrain. When others do park there, and there’s plenty of room for them.

Saw you on KZbin channel: "Over the Fence" who shared your personal home's yard. WOW! IMPRESSIVE! You made me think about limbing up shrubs to create shade giving ng small trees. VERY CLEVER AND INSPIRING. Moved from New England zone 7, to North Carolina zone "impossible dry and hot, but garden in humidity"= horrible and moved to PNW on Puget Sound. But it's a hot spell and I need shade. So I got to make some! Inspired by your garden and ideas.

I’ve watched so many of your videos over the past week or so and I think you’re converting me from being only a fan of Japanese Gardens. 😄 I have so many screenshots of your Rhododendrons that are on my wishlist now, too. I’ve tried to find the info on the steel edging you mentioned you’ve shared before, but I haven’t been able to find it in any videos, Instagram or Facebook posts. If you have the time to share, I’d appreciate it, especially the height and gauge. Thank you from Michigan! ✌️😊
@eGardenGo7 ай бұрын
Glad to have influenced you re: the wonderfulness of the lesser-known, foliage-first rhodies. Unfortunately, your question about the steel edging in my side yard garden isn’t that easy to answer succinctly. That particular steel edging was a custom installation due to its height length and curvature. There are many DIY projects one can do with steel edging, but that particular one was not that. I think the best way to think about it is that working with this edging is a combination of several influences: the height of the revealed edge, the thickness of the steel you’re using, and whether you are making curves or rectilinear forms. I wish I had an easy and straightforward answer for you :-)
@finnllow7 ай бұрын
@@eGardenGo thanks! I used 12-gauge Corten steel on an art project and think it’s probably a little too stiff for curves. I want it tall enough to see, but don’t want to trip and stub my toes non-stop. I’ll figure it out. 😊

Very reassuring to see what you've got in your garden and how you use plants to accent areas with color. I also love how you are willing to pull a plant that you no longer want to to have incorporated in your small space. Like you, Darcy, I have a a very small urban garden in Port Townsend and it's always a struggle to get everything in that adds to the garden through the seasons (and that deer won't eat).

Your garden is gorgeous! I remember when you had the giant nine bark. Your garden was gorgeous then, too. I especially love all your color combos. A gardener after my own heart! I'm in zone 5b MA, and I'd like to transform my gardens from primarily perennials to a higher percentage of shrub-type plantings... similar to yours. I have no lawn anywhere, a small lot with approximately the same front garden dimensions. Except, my topography is completely flat - i'm finding this a huge challenge. Thank you for sharing your garden with me!
