All I see is a NAV Loss of $1,100.00 & capital gains on $9718.00 in dividends. The only way this formula is going to work is if you don't reinvest and invest those dividends into Qualified Dividends elsewhere. Who cares about how many shares you own it's irrelevant. When NAV deteriorates by half it means the cost to reinvest cost 50% more per your example. At the end of the day, when NAV detonates by half each reinvestment cycle your essentially paying more for less. Unless you invest those dividends into something where the NAV isn't sinking as fast as your dividend loss each investment cycle, you're a dog chasing its tail, on ice.

why would anyone buy yieldmax funds when you cna buy roundhill or Kurv? all yieldmax funds do is go down. The point to buy low is to capture the upside run. There is no upside in yieldmax. they dont recover like roundhill and Kurv. Its literally a no brainer.

Great video and analysis on BABO. I might plan to buy on each red day despite what the price value is. If it is in red, I'm buying it. That way if you plot a chart over the time, you'll see your avg price is much lower. :)

@HonorableInvesting
@HonorableInvesting Күн бұрын
Haven't really kept up with AIYY, the underlying chart isn't looking amazing rn, it's kinda looking like TSLA and TSLA was falling. I would either look to strengthen your position if your comfortable holding long term or I would look to hold. I never really believe in buying to sell so anything I buy I always look at the underlying and believe in the stock

@HonorableInvesting
@HonorableInvesting Күн бұрын
My account balance is about $50,000CAD or $35,000 USD, I earn about $1,000 USD per month. But so many factors play into that like what I invest in, YOC, NAV erosion of assets etc.

You sound like a good person, so I want to help you. Get out of all Yieldmax funds! The Oracle ETF had their CEO on for an interview and the clown laughed about NAV erosion. You are dollar cost averaging into a fund that is going to zero and if they reverse split you are losing your # of shares which is the only thing keeping your head above water. KURV is the way!
@HonorableInvesting

The Hoovman I apprecite you comment but likely I will continue to hold my yieldmax investments. I personally believe a lot of factors play into NAV errosion and I am very careful when chosing my yieldmax ETF to avoid ones with a lot of errosion :)

I wouldn't do Ymax, there are few tinkers that pulls it down. You can just pick what ever combination you want and build your own diversification. If you're reinvesting you can simply buy whatever with your dividend to increase that position.

Wasn't just yieldmax. The entire market was in red today due to the revelation of deepseek. You don't buy ym funds for growth or even stability. Everyone who own's these funds know's or should know they are highly susceptible to NAV erosion and dividend volatility. That behind said. Msty, scmy, Pflt(a bit pricey but great yield.) and Lgfy by far the best weekly are all great picks. And you still have ymax and ymag as good value options, so nothing to worry about.

NVDY/MSTY are my largest Yieldmax positions as they currently represent 17% of my portfolio. I also own YMAX,APLY,AMZY,MSFO,TSMY,SQY, dumped NFLY and ABNY to free up margin,JPMO and à number of other covered call etfs, replaced most of XDTE and QDTE wirh QQQT under 19/share and XDTE with SPYT under 19 plus I own tons of non Yieldmax related high yield cefs/other etfs. I also know if I get decimated I could always throw 100% in SPXL(UPRO) and TQQQ at the end of à bear market and make up my losses in 1 to 3 months You have to watch the leverage decay on SPXL and other 3x. It took a while for TQQQ to make a new high in 2024 long after the Nasdaq 100 did..and it's greater than 3x when held longer than overnight. Anyway,because I have it set up so that I spend less than I make,the remaining monthly distributions of all etfs and cefs combined pay down the margin loan. The result is that even if the navs test similar or the same lows,the portfolio makes higher lows. If the navs test lower lows,the portfolio makes similar previous lows. For example,my portfolio value was roughly the same on Jan 10, 2025 and August 16,2024. Its 20% off the Aug 5 intraday low and I've been withdrawing the entire time. Borrowing the money to buy as close to the lows as possible and then letting distributions pay it back constantly lowers your breakeven. At worst, you can preserve after withdrawals and best,slowly grow.If I wasn't withdrawing monthly,I'd have mega growth At the market close,NVDY was almost able to hold it's 2023 low,even though NVDA had a Covid drop. Thats impressive. I keep every dollar invested while leveraging these. Opened only down 4k, at one point -10,200 but finished about -7k. Despite flucuating 27k in either direction,after monthly withdrawals,I was able to at least maintain within a range using this strategy. If I had simply spent the cash,I would've burned through my nest egg by now.Risk management,knowledge of margin maintenance, and buying as close to the lows are key, in my opinion. The only exception to this rule was my MSTY position,which is there to pay off the margin loan while I spend the rest. At 100% equity,if all positions combined dropped 10%, my principal would exceed my 2024 intraday high. A 20% drop would result in only a 6% difference in principal value. These loans get paid off my quickly. As you build equity,you make life easier.

On the weekly paying funds, I buy some every Wednesday, to get more income on Friday. @ remember though if 200k gives you 45k in income and you take a standard deduction from that, it could throw a person into a low bracket to no taxes at all given a person’s finances. On the other hand a 200k account with incomes at say 65 with a standard deduction could leave a person in the spot to pay higher taxes on the income.

Not sure when anyone is going to address this...but they are not DIVIDENDS...these are premiums that are produced by doing covered calls...so in effect they are Distributions of Cap Gains and ROC...they are not dividends...Dividends are taxed already then distributed, and that is why in Canada we have what is called a Dividend Tax Credit!
