I think there is a mistake here, wouldn't the tongue deviate to the left with right hypoglossal damage?
@LeQaddow3 күн бұрын
No, it deviates to the ipsilateral (same) side of the injury. Look it up in Moore’s clinically oriented anatomy book.

Thank you for this excellent video series. A few clinical points: only an idiopathic facial nerve palsy is termed a 'Bell's palsy'. For example, facial nerve palsy following acoustic neuroma resection would be classified as a facial nerve palsy. Additionally, there should not be drooping of the upper eyelid as both the levator palpebrae superioris (CN3) and Muller's muscle (or the superior tarsal muscle) (sympathetic) are both intact. There will be lower eyelid drooping due to weakening of the orbicularis oculi and midface facial muscles, which can result in lagophthalmos. You can get a 'pseudo-ptosis' or false drooping of the eyelid, but it is actually brow ptosis overriding the eyelid. One final comment - we can also thank Dr. Bell for his description of the Bell's phenomenon, where the eye rolls up with attempted closure of the palpebral fissure. Bell's phenomenon protects against corneal damage from Bell's palsy!

Thank you for sharing this video, I am currently studying dentistry in Europe and its almost like the instructors don’t speak English…. The videos they provide for us to review are long and confusing.

Comment for myself: Recall that svc and ivc both enter the RA - so in the posterior view of heart where you spot the middle cardiac vein and the post. inter-ventricular artery, you will see the big IVC hole on top. All the veins enter the coronary sinus which enters the RA.
