Not very impressed watching that, people are texting on phones and yawning, disgraceful behaviour, they are not even listening properly.

I remember the place having spent 6 years as a boarder at Kirkham Grammar in the late 50’s to early 60’s. In those days Kirkham had a gas light cinema and another cinema run by the coal merchant. Also an old swimming pool, two coffee shops and a train station that we used often but amazed Beeching did not shut it down as it was old and derelict. Just amazed the video does not mention KGS as its now a modern school albeit private, but founded in 1549 and a very long history to Kirkham village.

I used to live in St Annes way back in the 1960s residing at 2 Singleton Avenue, a flat above the then Bakers And Greengrocers now a Hair Salon and working at Hadley Motors which is now J & M Cars in Hove Road... A beautiful town which holds many fond memories for me...

Why the white noise from 0:41 until 2:21 and 2:32 to 2:45?
@fyldecouncil10 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, the reason for the white noise is that unfortunately the member speaking has not switched on their microphone so the camera is just picking up the 'empty' sound feed.

Cllr. Duffy stated that the Civic Society had to 'play catch up' and then added that he thought 'WE' had done a good job of playing catch up.... Does that mean he is IN the Civic Society? If so is that allowed?
@davidhillier64310 жыл бұрын
This is a very disappointing outcome. I was falling asleep listening to the Civic Society's proposal, whereas the Park View 4u proposal is innovative, dynamic and exciting. My facts may not be 100% but wasn't Cllr Duffy's wife there handing out leaflets for the civic society and Cllr Duffy himself was there as a (very well briefed) substitute, not as a member of the scrutiny panel? Robert Silverwood has a clear conflict of interest and should never have been allowed to present his view - of course he would be concerned that trade may be taken from his Lowther cafe. This whole "democratic process" stinks of corruption and needs to be investigated. Cath and the park view 4u team do an amazing job bringing visitors and therefore trade into the town, and have a real passion for improvng the quality of life for those living in Lytham. The facilities on the park view site and the groups that are associated with park view should be celebrated and encouraged. Cllr Duffy says he can't see the point of having sand and water on the scruples site - I can't see the point of yet more benches. Sand and water on the foreshore is exactly where it should be. The face of Lytham is changing as more young families move in, some encouraged to do so by their positive experience at park view. I would seriously urge FBC to reconsider this decision and think about what is best for the town, not for a few unscrupulous individuals.

One of the main reasons I moved to Lytham was because of the fabulous ParkView. This decision is such a wasted opportunity for the whole of Lytham. Well done to all the Park View team for your dedication, enthusiasm and vision to help make Lytham such a great place to live and visit. I hope this isn't the end of the matter. I didn't hear any convincing argument as to why a fully funded sand and water play area next to the beach would be rejected in favour of pretty landscaping. Come on Fylde Council. Where is your vision for exciting projects that engage, educate and bring visitors to Lytham?

Cannot believe what I just saw and heard , if the commity had listened properly to the presentation they wouldn't have asked those questions .... Surly pvfu have proved they can sustain it financially as they are already doing so .... Of course it will bring people in to Lytham , I would not vote for cll Duffy he has no idea clearly ,I had a business in Lytham for 10 years and watched how cath and her team evolved the park view area of Lytham ... The council need dragging kicking and screaming into this age before they destroy Lytham !!!

I live overlooking the Green and I rarely see children playing and breathing in the sea air. What is there to do? Football? Cricket? Rounders. No it is far too dangerous for such activities next to a busy road. I see adults dog walking , adults walking and adults sitting on benches all of which are never occupied.so what do the fylde Councillors decide would be the best community facility on a derelict piece of land by the sea? A fabulous water Play park which gives children joy , fresh air , exercise , social skills and education or more benches? Oh there are a few more extras promised by the Civic Society but these are more than provided for in the PV4U scheme. This a marvellous opportunity for Fylde B C to overturn the scrutiny decision and provide a state of the art facility for children for the 21st century. Representations were made by nimbys and self serving people. Cllr Duffy and his partner gave a strong indication that they were in league with the Civic society handing out their leaflets and he played to the gallery and led the committee. A few Cllr said The water play scheme was a good one but in the wrong place, Cllr Mulholland , who always 'gets it' had to keep reminding them that this Was the ONLY site that met the criteria. I know the decision was wrong and members were led and some just didn't appear to understand the whole picture which was obvious by the comments that were made? Please view the meeting yourself and perhaps you will feel like me that this needs to be looked at again. May I suggest that Councillors are made to retire at 65 years old as we do need representatives who have a constructive , innovative outlook who will help steer the Fylde into the 21st century with vision and care for the needs of ALL the community

Cllr Duffy came across very negatively in the video. When he said the Council and Civic Society were playing "catch up" to the Park View proposal it was already apparent that his mind was closed to the opportunities the Park Vies scheme was offering. Does the committee honestly think the Civic Society proposal will attract visitors that wouldn't already come into Lytham? From an educational, fitness, fun, family, school and business point of view the Park View scheme wins hands down. But hey.... I'm only an ordinary member of the public who lives in Lytham. What would I know!?

Park View. Professionally delivered. Ecologically planned. Tradionally thought out. I cannot see why they voted in favour of a landscape over an amazingly educational instalation, the like of which the residents travel far and wide to encounter. I do not live in the area any more, not even in the country, but every time we visit my "home" my children are delighted in experiencing Park View and any nature workshops that may be available. I myself am envious of my friends who have helped create the vegetable garden and take part in your monthly educational workshops. All I can suggest is that this was already decided before you stepped foot into the meeting. Perhaps next time, play some George Formby instead of the wonderfully mellow sand dune chillout. Did you see how rude a few of the audience were...didn't even bother to look or pay any attention to the video of the pop up day. LYTHAM HAS LOST OUT on this this very antiquated attitude decision. Lytham promenade and green is NOT untouchable. I grew up on the Wreck. I would have loved to have grown up on Park View or any of it's brothers and sisters. You guys rock!

Listening to most of these councillors I just want to hold my head in my hands and despair. No wonder our town is in decline when innovative schemes like the Park View proposal get short shrift from councillors who apparently can't imagine walking 200 yards. Lets' keep Lytham as a venue for charity shops and old fashioned cafes shall we? The 21st Century is far too scary isn't it?

This has got to be the worst decision ever. Who is the man on the left in the white shirt 2.21.45 mins in? (near the end) He obviously doesn’t have kids or grandchildren. Shame on you and he says it’s in his ward too, he obviously doesn’t listen to the locals
