My friend and myself are huge Revolutionary War history buffs and luckily live in NY. We say luckily because NY State is so richly huge with Revolutionary War history. We've been meaning to check out this cemetery for a while now. We plan to go in a few weeks!

It reminds me of an evening in 1998 when because of rain, we had to shift everything from the ground up to the building inside and have the worship concert. But we had it. Sorry the videos in the tape got erased and have no good memories saved anywhere.

this is a very cool place and happy to say i was the one that added it to google map. there's a few parking spots along the road and its just a 5 minute like a b-line to the the tower. or you can do a very nice easy 3.6 mile loop hike with only a 396 ft Elevation gain. what i was told and read on the net was the tower is also a monument for the clarks dog (buttons). which they use to go birding together to record how many different bird species they could find. if you would like a map of the 3.6 mile trail down load alltrails on your phone. the best hiking app you'll ever need.

Hi. My name is Kimberly Cole. I've recently discovered that 3 of my great, great uncles fought in the Civil war with two of them winding up at Elmira Prison Camp. One of which was on board the Shiloh train wreck. From the information I found, he was badly injured and one of the first men to be buried at Elmira. I'm planning on coming to Elmira, NY in end of March/beginning of April. How could I possible find his headstone? I would like to learn all there is to know about my Uncles and being at Elmira. Do you know of anyone that I could meet that could help? Thank you for any information you may have for me.

My Grandmother's Grandfather, James Tyner, was a Confederate POW in Elmira at this time, and his brother William one of the prisoners on board this train. William was badly injured in the wreck and survived only long enough to avoid being buried in a mass grave in PA. He died in Elmira on the 18th, without ever regaining consciousness. James died in captivity on the 13th of March, 1865, 27 days before the surrender at Appomattox. We always wondered if the brothers met that one last time.
