Silly idea. Fill it up so you don't have to charge more often. Unless that's the idea for the charging companies to get more repeat business.

Most EV chargers charge by the KW (no longer by time anymore). So to them, the most optimal business decision is maximizing the efficient utilization of their chargers and incidentally also maximizing the end users TIME. Its a lot faster to charge from anywhere below 85% to 85%…. Than it is from 85% to 100%. So its actually a win win for both the charger companies business model, and the end users time, to limit Level 2 and 3 chargers to charging below 85%.

Imagine being penalized for filling a vehicle gas tank past 3/4 of a tank. So what is the extra capacity for? Un Fin believable!

An illogical comparison, as filling up from 75% to 100% in gas takes maybe what, 10 seconds? In EVs due to battery physics constraints, it would take the same or more time than going from 0-85% in a level 2 or 3 charger. Charging from 85% to 100% is adequate for Level 0 and Level 1 chargers. I outline all of this in my video i mentioned on this short video as well. Its not optimal user experience, but it is the reality of the current EV infrastructure and battery physics limitation.

Ok so what if some one just want to get 100% because that is just what they need to get range wise with any stops mid trip. If i go some where its non stop no rest breaks nothing go and till point A becomes point B

With the variety of Level 2 and 3 charging options, it’s incredibly unlikely that an EV from 85% to 5% range wouldn’t have another charger between that distance. People charge to 100% to “skip” over chargers and get to their destination “faster”. But if you truly are unable to get to A to B from 85% to 5%, then you’ve just proven why EVs are NOT ready for major adoption :) . And why CAs absurd enforcement of them is ill-timed!

You’re exactly right! I had those huge gaps due to improper measuring. And therefore every DIY’s infamous phase, “measure twice, cut once” :) But remember, if you don’t remove the baseboards, don’t cut the planks so they are flush against them. As you’ll still need to hammer it into the previous board, and that requires around half an inch or so of space In the video where I show me installing the flooring, I call myself out for that mistake :(
