Agree completely. Only I would add, in practice play at the same intensity level you expect to have in your matches. Little things can help this happen. For example, normaly the people I play with open a new can of balls even for practice matches. So, what we stared doing was playing for the tennis balls. Both players or teams bring a new can. The winner gets to take the new can home, the loser can do what they want with the used can. Its no big deal, but it added that little extra to our practices that made it more league or tournament like.

There's a huge power loss with an open backhand. It's defensive. All the pro's are doing it? Who? Nobody hits with an open backhand unless they absolutely have to.
@TennisTech-Wannabe

Open stance, maybe not all the time but watching probably too much tennis these days, I think it’s a fair assessment with the pros. I need to learn it because I’m pretty slow these days and hopefully help me stay in the point 🤞. %100 less power but works ok with return of serve by using my opponents power from there serve. Thx for the feedback 👍

You got it the wrong way around my friend, 2 handed backhand for a righty is a left handed forehand, right hand is the guiding hand. Think of your right hand providing the leverage in order for the left hand to flick across get the spin + power.

Your open stance backhand looks like mine. Mine improve when I hit well in front and try to not put too much topspin on the ball. Ironically the more topspin I try the more it becomes side spin to the wrong side.

You are 54 years old and your UTR is 7.91. That is a good start towards making your mark on the ITF seniors circuit. The best players in your age division internationally have a UTR between 10 and 11. You might think about trying out for Australia’s national senior team and playing in ITF senior events. However, don’t stop competing against younger players in tournaments. This year I played on the U.S. National Men’s 70 team. It was a great honor playing for my country against the best players in my age category from Spain, Portugal, India, and the Netherlands. Anyway, keep up the great work and remember you are as young as you feel.

Tennis is a very physical sport so the older we get, the tougher it is. From adapting by changing swing styles to service forms, we have to contend with chronic injuries which we never ever suffered from when young. Thats just Life i guess. Am happy that at least we are on the courts still enjoying the game
