Hammers need voicing by expert. Too mushy. Needs sparkle. This piano can be more!

This seems to be an A roll played on a very mediocre small Knabe grand. There are vastly better AMPIC recording out there.

Where is this piano now? Can one see/hear it?

Good job and good advises ! A few students and teachers armed with tear gas at every classroom will change the ambient and force the shooter to move to a different location.

Also, Rachmaninoff recorded exclusively for Ampico. Artists were generally signed to a particular recording company, much like today's artists are signed to a record company. He was moderately active, but certainly not one of the most active.

One not only "sees" the performance, one experiences (hears) the artist's entire performance. This includes the artist's interpretation of the music, possible because of the technical marvel of the expression system which re-enacts the tempo, crescendos, decrescendos, accents, pedaling and other nuances of piano performance. This is how Rachmaninoff played it, he did the actual recording of this piece and it's his interpretation.
