I had the same problem with my 99 which just turned over 98,000 miles I had to change the IAC valve twice because the first one was obviously bad. The second one absolutely blew apart into pieces so I had to change it again, but it fixed my high idle problem.

1996 Honda FireBlade. The service manual says to measure the piston ring gap at the bottom of the cylinder bore. I reason that they say that is because the piston ring gap will be smallest at the bottom of the piston's stroke in the cylinder bore, due to bore tapering. What do you think?

It may also be the intake mainfold gasket or the valve cover gasket check them by spraying a brake cleaner o throtle cleaner while running to locate the leak first. In my case the 2 gasket mentioned, and the one of this video and the boot was bad or almost and it only had less than 80k miles.

The automatics shift cable was my problem. If you push the shifter forward while cranking it starts. Otherwise its intermittent. Just wanted people to check that before tossing money away. I got the 07.

It wasn’t bad, I could just see oil leaking by the side of the head and down by the engine stamp on the block, it could also leak inside the distributor causing spark issues.

@JCMotiveGarage I've got a pretty bad leak on my passenger side. I just did all the drivers side seals and oil pan. Rear main is fine because my flexplates dry. So either my distributor o ring is non existent or I missed one of those little brass rings from the old pan gasket

@boosted_donkey check inside your distributor cap, you can also check the pcv box and see if that has oil in it that’s on the passenger side also, that’s the only 2 things I could come up with beside the stuff you have already checked. @JCMotiveGarage that's a good point. Forgot about the black box on the back. I've rebuilt these engines before so I'm familiar with them I just wasn't sure if the distributor seal would cause a kinda fast leak ( about a quart in 300 miles). I was just baffled that it was leaking that quick after replacing most of the leaking gaskets lol.

No, it won’t work on your car. You need to have a turbo because a turbo has a blow off valve and that’s where you get that sound from.

I just wrapped over them and it turned out good, it will take more time but not as much and taking them off and putting them back on also they will match the car if they are faded.

why did you put a valve cover breather filter instead of running a hose to your breather can?

Because it kept filling the pcv box with oil, because of the compression. I needed a way to release the positive pressure in the crank case.

No, that’s only if you have a problem with the key getting stuck when you take it out.

just changing d16y8 full stock oem 421 headers to 4-1 , i would say it sound more quiet when idling and cruising around , but it does scream slighty louder before fuel cut , and cool thing is , these long tube headers are making rumble tone like uel headers does at low rpm
