here is something you might want to try. I made a large wooden pumpkin Lantern. Now, i made mine a 3 face. a face in the front, face on the left side and a face on the right side. Now, i made the 2 sides with hinges so i can open them up. Now i put parchment paper on the back of the 3 faces with thumb tacks and put a Led light with multiple colors. I have a small video of it. you should try and make 1 ,,, send me an email and i can show you what it looks like 👍

I hear what you're saying but I don't want to be the Coffin Lantern guy forever. They are fun to make this year but next year I want to start on something new. Thank you for the thoughtful comment though.
@BRMakesStuff3 ай бұрын
@@FunWithWoodworking I don't know. Calling it "your idea" is pretty broad anyway. It's a silhouette box in the shape of a coffin. My grandfather made silhouette boxes at Halloween and Christmas with his scroll saw. They were all kinds of shapes and the figures/shapes for the cutouts were all his own drawings (not to say yours aren't). Don't think he ever did a coffin one though. But he got his idea from other craft products from years and years even before him that do the same thing. Silhouettes on an actual lantern, silhouettes on boxes like the jack-o-lantern thing you did before this. The idea is everywhere you just made a super cool one, with your spin on it, used the laser, and made it that much more marketable. It's very cool what you did but to coin it as "your idea"... I don't know. I'd say more, "My spin on..." But still... for your business you're doing the absolute right thing. Create something nobody else is doing at the moment especially in the laser world, KZbin it, use your subscriber count to your advantage, sell your files/plans, and there you go. It really doesn't matter if you own the idea at this point. Not sure this commenter realizes you're probably going to make way more on selling the files than selling the boxes. I created a 3D Printed bobble head ghost, I want to sell the STL files for, that is super cool (not terribly unique) but I don't have any followers nor do I have any knowledge or time to try and market it. Anyway, I subscribed. You got cool vids.

Just purchased the files. Question, I would like to use 5mm ply (over stocked). I tried to increase the size of the cut-outs for the tabs but am having a hard time understanding how to do it. If possible would you be willing to explain how to accomplish this? Dragging or changing the width in the edit bar makes the rectangles a parallelogram.
@FunWithWoodworking3 ай бұрын
It's a giant pain in the butt. You have to grab one of the rectangles from an area, let's say the 4 for one of the long pieces on the sides. You then have to figure out the angle that it is at and rotate it until it is 90° to your screen. You then make it taller, but not longer. You then rotate it to match what it used to be and replace it in the exact center of each of the 4 cut-outs for that piece. Rinse and repeat for all of the other side pieces. You also might have to make the pieces slightly shorter because they are now thicker and may run into each other. I would resize the holes first and then cut out a test lantern. If it doesn't fit then make the pieces shorter without changing the size of the cutouts or tabs.
@DavidJohnson-sv7mg3 ай бұрын
@@FunWithWoodworking I got it figured out, interesting; only the top and bottom pieces had to be trimmed by the 2mm on each side due to the increased width of the plywood. Thanks for responding.
