I was honestly shocked how fast I got up and running on my Lenovo Thinkpad. Literally installed AFTER READING THE DOCUMENTATION (which is very important) and plugged my Xiegu G-90 in via my Digirig and after a less than 5 minute setup was using FT8 and WSJT-X. MUCH faster than setting up my Windows environment. WELL DONE, Andy!!! 73!

Can any Auto ATU be used at the feed point if the control circuit appropriately rewired / repurposed for remote use? The higher cost of remote ATU's is prohibitively expensive while generic kits for desktop use are inexpensive.

Many thanks the section on the AH-4 was great liked that a lot and useful that someone puts down this info not found anywhere else on the internet to be honest - I'd love to see some comparison results with the AH-4 with different setups like Long Wire , Doublet with ladder line etc. You put some good tips in there that could easily be missed so I watched it a few times all the best and 73s Mike R

Thanks for the discussion. I don't know who Ki5kj is I'm W1HDJ in schenectady NY. We are setting up remote operation from Schenectady's museum of Science. We'll access the club station (W2IR) from the museum floor for demonstrations and from Schenectady High School where we have an ARDC grant to bring more young folks into ham radio via the club's licensing class. We're keenly interested in folks practical experience with remote operation from multiple remote locations. We'lll be using the IC-7610 + the RSBA1-v2 software. Best Regards Paul

Great Zoom meeting on antennas Greg =) I had a closet full on antennas that where homebrew and pictures that most defy standard antenna types typically found in books =) EXPERIMENT and you will find antennas that work well =) For example my CAT 75 ohm coax folded dipole antenna with 1/4 wave 75 CAT coax feedline =) Works great ( dang I feel the need to build another one :-))) ( I had transmission line / antenna theory in college electronics degree ) de Pat N5VMO

Is there any cape sending messages? Or is it just good for signal reports?

The constant clearing of the throat is a little distracting.
This was a great explanation of the sizes, thank you. I have used a piece of heat shrink tubing on each wire and a black hood to slide over both of the connectors followed up with a piece of heat shrink that covers both wires and the wire end of the hood. Very solid and nearly water proof at least at the wire end of the connectors.

My NANO VNA was set up once and once only, a matter of maybe ten minutes for four memories. The pararmeters are saved and brought into use by the recall function. What's time consuming about that? 4 to 8 MHz for my 60m inverted vee, 25 to 265 MHz which I should change to cover 50, 70 and 144 MHz, 10 to 20 MHz, 20 to 30 MHz and 3 to 10 MHz. It would be great if the screen was larger so I use a magnifying glass to read it. G4GHB.

For a beginner you really can't go wrong with 30Amp, then it becomes about the features you want, analog, digital, meter display. If they are thinking ahead and want room to grow then 50Amp might be the way to go. It might cost more up front but they will be able to run more equipment (things they don't know they want yet but after watching a few videos will say OH Yeah I need that in my shack)

So, I have no idea how you got the WSJT running. I have both programs separately, now trying to figure out how to get them both going at the same time and talking with each other. Do you always have to open both separately? Lots of questions before you get to the FT8 for beginners
