There are a lot of variables to that such as your location, system size, plumbing design, distance from panels to pool equipment, etc. Some jobs are simple and others complex. I would guess for an average installation it should be in the $1,000-$2,000 range.

Interesting. We have a solid metal fence, cat 4 hurricane rated, that gets a lot of sun, and I wonder about mounting collectors to it. They get a lot of sun in winter, when we need the heating the most. Obviously, they would be fixed instead of tilting, but I bet they would still be effective.

The maximum angle recommended for solar panels is 45 degrees. The engineers that design and test these products say that efficiency begins to drop significantly after that. The flow of water through the panels is also affected in that orientation. I have had customers do full 90 degree angle installations before with good results, but it's just not something recommended and would be hard to predict exactly what results it would produce.

Tyler has done hundreds of professional installations and never had a roof leak. You just need to use a generous amount of high quality sealant (we recommend Lexel 13010) when securing to the roof. Our DIY customers do incredible work as well often times just as good if not better than the professionals. Whether its water heating or electric solar there are millions of roofs with penetrations out there you just need to use the proper components and quality workmanship. We are here to walk you through any installation steps and give you the confidence to perform a professional installation. If you have a roof warranty you should absolutely check before doing a project like this.

Great video, almost ready to make my purchase :) Just wanted to know, is there a video on how to install the header brackets on barrel roof tile? Is it just a matter of drilling a hole through the tile, using a long enough lag bolt, and sealing the hole on the tile once the lag bolt is fed through? I'm assuming there may be more to it....and if so, are there kits for that type of install as well... Thanks in advance!

In my opinion as a Florida custom home builder and homeowner with a pool and solar heat(collector) system, it is a waste of money heating your pool this way. In most of Florida you don’t need a pool heater in the summer. The water actually is too warm without heat. For most of the winter the water never gets warm enough to swim. So investing in a system and supply the electricity to run it I see no practical benefit. If you want to swim in the winter get a real pool heat pump. Yes it will cost money but it will heat the water sufficiently to swim. This from my experience, Respectfully.
@solarpoolsupply9793
@solarpoolsupply9793 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your input. We do a ton of business in Florida and from our experience our customers are achieving an 11-12 month swim season on solar only. You just need a properly sized solar system to achieve the goals you are aiming for, so system sizing is critical. Solar heating doesn't cost anything to run, so there is minimal operational costs and you're essentially heating your pool for free. Solar pool heating systems typically pay for themselves within 3 years or so in comparison to gas or electric heating. Heat pumps work great in Florida, but it comes with a cost. Solar heating may not be for everyone, but it's a great option to consider. Obviously, summer heating isn't necessary, the purpose of solar pool heating is for the fall/winter/spring seasons. If your pool gets too hot in the summer we do offer the GeoBubble CoolGuard pool covers that help reduce pool temperature in those conditions.

We need some more info. How many gallons per hour is going through your heater? How many gallons do you have in your pool? You get a 3°F rise in temp in one hour. What's the starting temp in the pool? A nice and clean installation indeed, but it left me with more questions than answers
@solarpoolsupply9793

The pool is around 250 sq ft. The system is (4) 4x8 panels that total 128 sq ft of solar. The recommended flow rate for this system would be about 13 gallons per minute. The water coming out of a solar pool heating system is typically 3-5 degrees warmer than the inlet temp. There are many variables, but a properly sized system will typically increase overall water temp by 8-15 degrees after 3-5 days of consistent run time.

Why is the ball valve disconnect between the two panels. What is the point of the valve? It doesn’t seem like there is a way to bypass the system. I understand it’s not a three way valve.
@solarpoolsupply9793
@solarpoolsupply9793 7 ай бұрын
The valve allows you to divert water through the panels, or bypass the solar panels to just filter unheated water. There will still be some water in the panels with solar off, but water will flow straight through the headers and back to the pool unheated. The design of this system is aimed to make the installation extremely easy. It keeps the solar inlet and outlet connections on the same side of the panels and is a less expensive option. If you want a more advanced kit with a real 3-way solar bypass I would recommend checking out our SwimEasy Triple Threat system.

Why not have the pump go into the top solar inlet and the bottom solar outlet go to the pool so gravity does most of the work?
@solarpoolsupply9793
@solarpoolsupply9793 7 ай бұрын
Water should always feed into the bottom header pushing water up and out the top of the panel. This properly pressurizes the system and balances water flow. If water was pushed into the top and out the bottom gravity would pull water faster through the panel and not pull as much heat out of the panel and into the water reducing heating performance.

The drain loop assembly connects the solar feed and return lines together with a small hose so that when the pump is off the panels and feed pipe automatically drain back down through the return pipe. Ok ... 🤔 I noticed one problem with the installation. The shutoff valve. It needs to be before the panels. With a second shutoff to bypass heater , thus allowing the pump to still filter& circulate.
@solarpoolsupply9793
@solarpoolsupply9793 7 ай бұрын
No, water will always follow the path of least resistance, so with the valve open water will pass straight through both headers and back to the pool unheated. With the valve closed water is forced down the panel and back heating the water along the way. There will be some water in the body of the panel with the valve open but it's not being forced through. This kit was designed this way to be a simple and quick install and affordable. We do have a different premium kit with an external bypass as you are describing, which is our SwimEasy TT Triple Threat.
