Glad you like it! Did you find the pattern easy or a fun challenge?

I just started watching this; and so far I really enjoy it! I need some piano keyboard motivation to get me going since the music book I have been learning from makes me roll my eyes (e.g., no tempo markings, no chords above the measures, an abrupt change to a distantly related key and then back to C major, and so on).
@mustlovemusicpianostudio2 күн бұрын
Glad the video is providing motivation! It’s too bad the book you found isn’t a great fit. Many piano books don’t include chords above the measures, but will include tempo markings and, depending on the level, changes to related keys. Often we want that transition to be smooth, but I’ve also heard great examples where the abrupt change sounds good. Which type of music are you looking to play and are you using a method book or something else?

Great example! 😎 Upbeat piano part with sad lyrics. For a little nerdy info, the reason you see the piano player playing almost only black keys is because it’s in B Major (which has all 5 black keys). 🤓

Ted, you are mentioning two things. 😉 Solfege (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti) is a way of singing and naming the pitches of notes so you can understand how they are related to each other. Creating lyrics (singing words along with music) is an artform in and of itself. I would recommend searching KZbin for these two topics if you are interested in them. Hope this helps you find the info you are looking for!

@@mustlovemusicpianostudio Yes. It was fun. I like the idea of moving away from the anchor we tend to establish in the white keys. I'm actually a guitarist that loves to play Blues. Piano is a new endeavor. Very visual in comparison to guitar, but I'm finding my way slowly. I appreciate your approach in teaching and will likely buy some of your material moving forward. I've been serious about it for about a month. Figured out Sirius (Alan Parsons Project) by Ear and working on that at the moment. A few scales, chords and inversions... I have a Yamaha P121 with the pedals, which I really like. Have a great evening.

No worries! I’m glad that this video helped you find a whole new set of notes. 🥳 Just remember we all learn things at different speeds. Sometimes things come easily and sometimes it’s more challenging. I have things that take me (what feels like) FOREVER to learn 😂 so I try to keep that in mind as I’m teaching. When you go back through the video, I’d love to hear what helps you the most. P.S. Happy belated Canadian Thanksgiving! Sorry it took a bit longer to answer your comment. 😉

Thanks for this helpful video. I'll like to know why A minor and F major sounded alike at the end. I've watched that part again, but it seems I'm still missing something.
@mustlovemusicpianostudio3 ай бұрын
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful. When we played the chord bridges using only 2 notes of the chord (around the 6:30 mark), they sounded the same because I was using the outside notes of how I had played the chords before. If I had played all the note of the A minor and F Major chord inversions like earlier in the video, they both had C on the bottom and A on top. What made them sound different was the middle note of E (A minor) and F (F Major). Later in the video, because we were playing broken chords (notes played individually) our ear can sometimes focus on just the outside notes and not catch the middle note as easily ... like remembering the beginning and ending of a story or movie. I hope this helps!
