I don’t know how they thought Jordyn would win an all around gold medal. All of her competitors had start values totaling .5 to 1 point higher than her. Viktoria scored 2 points higher than her. All of the little details are super important don’t get me wrong but they are not going to make even half a point difference.

After watching tons of footage and interviews and competitions and this and that, I can't help but see Jordan and Aly being all buddy-buddy (yes I know they're friends), same with McKayla and Kyla (but to be fair they grew up training together) and Gabby is just kind of left out of all the socializing and celebrating and everything. From the trials all the way to the competition. I don't know any backstories, I don't use social media (unless you count youtube) it's just jumping out the screen at me right now and reminding me of high school cliques for some reason. Am I crazy? She just looks...excluded. Same when they won the team all around and were celebrating. Kyla and McKayla hugging, Aly and Jordyn...and Gabby's just kind of by herself.

Marta’s retirement was the greatest moment in the history of gymnastics. It meant the end of the toxic dynamic that poisoned women’s gymnastics and paved the way for a transformation in the way gymnasts train, stay healthy and get the emotional support needed to fuel their performance. Instead of a solemn, joyless demeanour they can now show their pride in their work and be able to cheer one another on without the Karoyli’s black cloud determining how they could express themselves. The Karoyli’s isolated their gymnasts and controlled every aspect of their lives, through fear tactics and outright abuse. Good they are gone and the ranch is closed. And they are one of the reasons why Nassar got away with what as much as he did. He patched up the gymnasts so they would be able to practice and compete while still injured because that’s what the Karoyli’s wanted. In exchange they gave him carte blanche to do whatever he wanted to the girls, unchecked. He still would have abused girls but the sheer number is due to the fact that the Karolyi’s, in part, allowed him to practice totally unchecked for an extended period of time.

Bullshit. They brought out some Olympic champions..elite sports is nothing for weak people like you 😂 stay at home and eat some chips..better for you
Ok so i just want people's opinion... no fighting... just what you think... if nastia had trained maybe a year earlier and came to these trials with a perfect bar routine and perfect beam routines and the olympic committee chose her... who do you think out of the other fierce five they would have kept home?

@scottw67042 ай бұрын
Elfi and Tim always do that to the newest gymast they are focusing on - Nastia they obviously knew for years and Jordyn got all her nit-picking in the last year when she started winning everything. It was Gabby's turn to be the newbie!
Price was virtually flawless. I really think she deserved to be on the team. Did she have two vaults that would have contended for an event medal? I really don't think I've ever seen a more well-balanced all-arounder. She put up big scores!! Her floor landings were sooo controlled.

i 100% believe nastia would’ve made the team if she had taken a year to get back into FITNESS shape and then got back into the gym for her routines, you can tell by the way she was swinging on bars that she had WAY more power and weight than she was ever used to having, her form as always was absolutely impeccable (besides the obvious error)

Nastia is so beautiful to watch even when she falls she flicks her toe up to a point!!! She’s the most graceful gymnast I’ve ever seen and I can’t take my eyes off her 😍!!! She definitely didn’t give herself enough time to prepare for these competitions. At least she had the heart to try , what a champion 👏🏼👑

Gabby was well known to be the biggest threat to Jordyn's supposed dominance - at least to the commentators, as well as to the gymnasts. Regarding the so-called controversy mentioned in this comment section of what Jordyn and Aly may have said, there is no possible way they could have been suprised that Gabby was going to become an Olympian. Gabby already won the American Cup 2012 when Jordyn and Aly were the official American gymnasts and Gabby was not listed on the scoreboard but was entered by Marta to compete as a third. The full broadcast is on KZbin. Officially, Jordyn won, but Gabby's score was higher, and you better believe the commentators and Jordyn, Aly and Marta at a minimum knew. NBC focuses big time on name recognition which is why they were talking about Jordyn more as she was the 2011 world AA champion and 2012 US national champion. There were a number of girls competing whose names were never even mentioned by the commentators eg Kennedy Baker, Brenna Dowell. One can hear the arena announcer saying their names before their routines. Sarah Finnegan and Sabrina Vega did not get a mention on the second night. You will be happy to find out that they all had great NCAA careers! NBC does this "hyper-focus on approx 8 gymnasts (ignore the rest) and maximize the drama" for every trials. Feel free to check 2016 and 2021 not to mention 2000, 2004 and 2008. Not sure if there are earlier ones on KZbin. Thank you very much for uploading! ❤
