I seen numerous 70 novas with a VIN tag of 113 and a trim tag 114 and they all seem to be 307 2 barrels.
@NovaResourceАй бұрын
@@kramer4855 Incorrect. The VIN code will always determine the engine. If the VIN has 113 then it a 6-cylinder originally regardless of what the trim tag has.

@@NovaResource yes what you're saying is correct I'm just stating that I've seen numerous 307 2 barrels with those tags.

@@kramer4855 Not with a 113 VIN. If the VIN started with 113 it will not be a V8, it will be 6-cylinder only.
@NovaResourceАй бұрын
@@kramer4855 Not 112, the 4-cylinder was 111 and that was for 1968 thru 1970. There was no more 4-cyl Nova after 1970.

76 Nova SS do they all have bucket seats I believe the standard Nova could be ordered with bucket seats as well I believe that can be identified on the trim tag ? (bucket seats)
@NovaResourceАй бұрын
@@kramer4855 No, the bench seat was standard just like all 1968-76 Novas Super Sports. Buckets were optional. On the second line of the cowl tag (1971-79), between the trim code and the paint code will be the seat option: A51 = bucket seats A52 = bench seat For 1968-70 the trim code will determine bench or buckets

How rare is a 1971 SS Nova L48 with factory tack next to the speedometer left side rectangular very small.
@NovaResource6 ай бұрын
No way to know for sure. GM didn’t track combined options. There were 7,015 1971 Super Sport Novas. And there were 1,680 1971 Novas with the U17 front compartment console instrument cluster.
@stevemiller27846 ай бұрын
@@NovaResource thanks. Found this snow over 16,000 original miles. It’s unbelievable how beautiful it is and perfect 350 270 HP with factory air automatic gauge console the tack the guy ordered about every option he could get but I’m not familiar with the u17 option do you have a picture of what it looks like?
@NovaResource6 ай бұрын
@@stevemiller2784 The U17 Special Instruments was how you got the factory tach in the dash. Basically the U17 special instruments were the tachometer, an ammeter, an oil pressure gauge and a coolant temp gauge. The tach went into the instrument cluster in the dash where the fuel level gauge was. So Chevy had to move the fuel level to the floor console where the ammeter, oil pressure and temp gauges were. So to get that tach, you had to order a floor shifter and the D55 floor console. And to get the floor shifter and console you had to order the A51 bucket seats. So, the factory tach was not an inexpensive option.

The reason that the trim tags don't match the VIN tags is simple . Fisher body put the trim tags on the bodies and had no clue which engine was going into which car . The assembly line could look and see which engine was installed and put the correctly stamped VIN tag in place .
