I was watching this at the time and watched the whole series

It's sad to think that about half of the series cast has passed on. What a tremendous show. Steven Bochco was ahead of his time; his shows launched the careers of many fine actors that either guest starred or were supporting cast members: David Caruso and Dennis Franz are the ones that come to mind.

No one ever said precisely what city Hill Street Blues was supposed to be set in, but it was always rumored to be Chicago.

Wasnt that street dope from a street addicts pocket, the guy whose feet she washed? As a former addict i just find it hard to believe he had that much. Junkies are constantly scrounging just to stay well. Same problem i had with House. The idea of all these stashes. Bull, I always knew exactly how much I had and where it was. Even when I has a free RX. Addicts dont accidentally lose or misplace drugs.

Michael Conrad was perfect for that role after playing heavies most of his life.

Loved watching this show in high school in the early 1980s. Used to wear my Nostromo hat (from the movie aliens) with a blue button down and navy turtleneck underneath it pretending to be Howard Hunter. RIP James B Sikking and so many others from the cast.
