@bodhicrocker4588 Yeah, I would like that. I love listening to music and also watching musicians play. It's like magic to me. I took guitar lessons for years and never managed to produce anything that sounded like music. I had a girlfriend who was a concert violinist, and she tried teaching me for a couple of years too. Whatever it is that people have in them to organize sounds in a way that is pleasing to the ear, I don't seem to have it. At least it hasn't presented itself so far. I dance like a dropped sack of potatoes, too😆. I have other giftings. I do admire the esthetic of sitting in a camp in the woods playing a cigar box banjo in the claw hammer style.
@bodhicrocker458820 күн бұрын
@@timberdrifter8225 A cigar box banjo you made yourself! Clawhammer is one of those styles I can't wrap my brain around. I do love the sound of it tho. Its Scruggs three finger style and Old time Two finger here/ at the moment. The key to learning is to never give up. It will happen. Just like everything else take it easy on yourself, take it easy on the instrument and enjoy the learning process.

I want this bike but I want to got with a 11- 26 on the back and a 18/30/44 or maybe a 11-28 and 20/32/44

Greetings I haven't really given it proper test ride since the upgrades. Just a couple short rides with a few climbs but nothing I needed the other four gears on. I think I said in the video the the new cassette was an 11-42. Its not.. it's an 11 - 40 with the goat lnik. Upfront is stock 26 36 48 I have a 140 mile attempt coming up that I plan on using this bike on. The loop has plenty of no joke climbing.. that will be a good test for the new set up. Hope you get whatcha want!

This old bike has a lot of chapters in its story. Someone bought it in Japan and loved it so much that they brought it with them here to the States. A bunch of yrs pass and I see it on the side of the road in front of what was an old gas station/garage /both on 206 in Sandyston, NJ with its bar ends pointing up and the drops hooked over the head tube towards the front wheel. Had to have it!

I fought the gravel thing for a long time. It didn't make any sense to me until I got the Libre.
@Mike-vd2qtАй бұрын
As an old fart that has been bike touring since the early 1980's, I always wonder about the fascination today with big front loaded bar bags. If you ever get the chance to try a front lowrider rack, (Arkel or Tubus) with two small panniers give it a try. Several things change in the steering axis, straight line stability is one; the other is leaning the bike to steer becomes easier with the center of gravity lower, thus shoulder and neck strain is reduced. I've used Schwalbe Marathons and crossed countries without a flat, but they are like you said "heavy", and they feel dead. I switched to tubeless for weight savings, more supple ride, lower psi, and carry a tube for backup just in case. Tubeless is one of those learning curve things, but once I got it down, never going back to tubes. Nice Kona Sutra touring bike, happy trails!
@bodhicrocker4588Ай бұрын
Greetings Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment. I since took the Swift bag off the Sutra because it was rubbing off the paint on the head tube. Not good ! I will look into the low riders for that bike. Thanks I put the bag on a brand spanking new Kona Libre with the same results (dont know what I was thinking). After one long ride the bag made it through the paint and into the aluminum... When I received the notification that you left a comment I was actually gorilla taping the head tube to protect it from further damage. The swift bag will live on the Kona libre. I'll just have to keep an eye on it. It's definitely not going back on the touring bike. Happy trails

@@bodhicrocker4588 i use a Restrap Bumber Bar to keep my bag of the head tube and keep it away from the cables. It works great.
@bodhicrocker4588Ай бұрын
@@seansixfive ugh.. I wish I had known about that before I went nuts with the gorilla tape. I took the bag off the Sutra and put it on the Libre. After a 70 mile trip the bad was sawing it's way through the paint almost into the aluminum . That's when the gorilla tape happened. Could find helicopter tape. In a different video I tried for whatever reason to make it seem like I wasn't as worried about the libre as the Sutra... total bs I like them both the same! Then again.. most Rando bikes that I've seen only have the front rack.. idk?? I do know or think that if anyone toured this bike they must have been a beast. .. seriously Hahaha

what size did you go with for the frame and how tall are you? I'm kind of in the middle 54 or 56cm frame.
@bodhicrocker45888 ай бұрын
I am 5'8" and the frame is a 54. The only problem I have is with the bar height. No room on the steering tube to raise the bars without putting on an ugly extension. Way too much weight on the hands. I love the drops but i might have to go to Moloko bars next season .
@lv2keepfit4938 ай бұрын
sounds like a 56cm frame for me definitely! Have you thought about a stem with some rise to it. 45' degree instead of the ugly extension. That's the problem with these new bikes, once the fork is cut that's it for length options. Happy cycling :) @@bodhicrocker4588
