Is there a name for the large rock just before the takeout? 5:07 on . We ran bear creek one day and when we got down to that large rock, it was under waster and the water was up to the level of the roadways..

We had a swimmer in the entrance rapid of Bottleneck and had to get his boat before it flushed down river. We did not run the main drop this day b/c of that.

@@dylancarr1036 Been there. When we were there at 15,000 (estimated, and probable higher) we had to sneak down the left side. There was a tounge of water going down the middle with no sign of the ledge. I saw hugh eddy's on each side. The water was impacting the river level about 75' below the ledge. I went first and when I got to the bottom of the tounge, the water took me straight to the bottom of the river. I floated up further down stream.. Still up right. When we got to the take out the water was up to the level of the road.

Level was 1800cfs. It’s the regular put in. County Rd 617. It’s a dirt road behind a church that’s built into a rock. Kind of hard to miss that church. Never seen anything like that before.

Yea, I put in there once and paddled down to just below that big class III rapid. took out on the right, walked up a steep hill. Road is normally closed, goes back to the park @ the last cabin. I was paddling with some of the park employees.@@dylancarr1036

Columbus, GA flood stage. Normal flows are from 1000 to 12,000 cfs. This was 26,000cfs

Definitely. I’ve been 4 times and will go this weekend as well. Both channels are great and there is a play feature in the top pool where the water is pumped back up so you don’t have to worry about traffic coming down on you.

Funny story. We met at CMP. New paddler to join us. Loaded up kayaks and just as we started to leave, new paddler said he left his PFD at home. I gave him mine and we headed off to the river. Great day

It’s 400. The 2 belongs to the upper as in Upper 2. 🤣 highest I’ve ran Suicide and Upper 2 was 1250. I don’t think I want it at 2400

So what happened that day? Why was all the water coming out of the side instead of over the ledge? Are releases like this scheduled in advance? I wanna do the ocoee at high water I’ve only done it up to around 1800-2000 cfs but don’t know how to plan for it. I live a good 4 hour drive away

I’m not sure why they ran it through the gate. It was pure luck we caught it at this level. We just got off Tellico and checked the level so we headed to Ocoee to catch it.

Seems like the more water the better here. I heard a few locals saying it was higher than what was posted this weekend. Especially Saturday. I saw somewhere that posted 560cfs recorded around 11:30 to 3:00. It felt fluffy to me but I wouldn’t have complained if they raised it on up closer to 1000. It’s so good at that level.

It’s a better choice for me. The bow stays drier, no stern taps on boofs and it’s a little easier to move around the river. I feel like it’s a touch slower but that works for me. I’m not blowing past eddies. It does surprisingly well in SE mank even with the hard edges. I’m definitely glad I made the switch.

Level was 400. I think you misread the title. Suicide and Upper 2 @ 400. I haven’t ran pinball yet. Only been on Suicide twice. Just haven’t felt it yet. I’ve ran everything but pinball in the canyon.

I wish I had more details for you. I went once with some friends and I’m not familiar with the area. I don’t know if this helps but where we put in, the water actually travels over the road like a spillway. I’ll check and see if I can get you some directions from my friends that live up that way.

Brooks, this place is known as Rush South or The Wintering Grounds. Pros from around the world come here during the winter b/c the temps are tolerable and the play spots are abundant. Stephen Wright makes this his home 6 months out of the year. It’s also bred the current Jr Mens World Champ, Mason Hargrove. I’m lucky to have a place like this within an hour from my house. It’s also the host of the 2023 Freestyle World Championships.

It’s a medium Scorch. I’m 5’8” and 180 lbs. I love the boat. Takes a little time to get used to the edges but overall, it’s a pretty sweet boat to paddle.

Thanks. It was my 3rd run in the Scorch and I’m still getting used to the edges. It definitely caught me off guard a couple of times. I’ve ran this Section one time at 400 cfs before I got the Scorch. This level was a lot pushier and was the first time I really felt those edges trip me up. I’m sure it was mainly bad form ( probably leaning back). All in all, it’s a great boat, just gonna take some getting used to.
