Tough call. Birthday is more special because the birthday person is the only one being celebrated. However, Christmas is celebrated longer (making the wish list, setting up the tree, Xmas cookies and movies etc.) that perhaps more time celebrating leads to more enjoyment of the season than the personalized enjoyment one receives on his/her birthday. This has been my birthday/Christmas TED Talk.

The only good point Joe makes in this podcast is that is that weed smokers smoke it habitually. I can almost guarantee, as a habitual smoker myself. Even with most of my friends, there’s no moderation with weed, we’re either smoking it every day (not a lot but still everyday) or not smoking it at all

Weed vs Alcohol debate is valid in parts from both sides Raised seeing alcohol glorified and weed being condemned meant I didn’t engage with marijuana until early 20’s. Over the years, I’ve slowly transitioned from addicted, dependant & habitual smoker, to a more health/lifestyle conscious consumer. Rarely do I ever smoke. Instead dry herb vaporiser or edibles, sparingly. Drinking is a rarity, avoiding it when I can except for special occasions or the odd day (once, maybe twice a week)where work has taken it out of me and nothing hits the same as a cold beer. I work in construction & good at my trade. I’m athletic, playing sport regularly and CrossFit style exercise. Over drinking is bad, smoking/consuming too much weed is bad. Though, of the two I’d have to agree that weed is the lesser evil so to speak.

I'm on the woman's side here. Sal and the restaurant owner were out of line. She sounds like an elderly, disabled, ill housebound woman who couldn't afford to tip and maybe wasn't making critical thinking decisions so well. At no point does Sal suggest she was being deliberately malicious. And Sal's boss was too incompetent to wrap those pennies & take them to the bank? I wrapped plenty of pennies for bank runs in my time. And Sal spit on this poor old woman's food? Not okay. Not okay.

I wonder if Sal actually doesn't understand the "You're boring" comment? Because his niece was actually ON POINT in succinctly & clearly articulating a real phenomenon observed across lots of mammalian species: Playfight dynamics. When older animals play fight with younger animals, they deliberately 'lose" a certain percentage of the time (scientists have studied this) -- to keep the younger animal from giving up and losing interest in an activity that has no point for them (AKA is boring). You can't just whup a kid at a game and expect them to NOT be bored; you have to keep them challenged enough to be in the competitive mode, but occasionally let them win enough to feel some 'reward' from the activity and keep wanting to play. Whether we're talking wolves or humans, whether the game is play wrestling where the adult wolf rolls over and pretends to be pinned, or the adult human pauses long enough to let the kid get in some hits in a video game. Any species that engages in play fighting, it IS boring (and stops being play at all) if the bigger stronger animal relentlessly wins 100% of the time... and that's why even non-human animals intuitively know they have to let the smaller animal 'win' a certain percentage of the time if they want the smaller animal to stay interested in the play. So no offence to Sal, haha... but on that day, he WAS boring. The kid called it accurately. Doesn't mean he's boring as an innate character trait! But the kid wasn't lying or misperceiving during that one activity, and if wolf puppies could talk they'd say the same to an adult wolf that never rolls over and pretends to be beaten.
