This was probably my least favorite of the EDF games that we've played. Lot of weird positives and weird negatives with this one. Positives: - This is the only game in the series to not crash, blackscreen, or softlock on us at any point during our playthrough. - I actually don't mind the aesthetic that it goes for. At a distance it actually is kind of cool. The Jet guys are especially cool. - Voice Acting is actually kind of stacked, I really like Lightning's voice. - I like that it takes place in America specifically. - The vehicles felt properly powerful, and honestly they were genuinely fun to use. - The destructible environments and attention to detail on specific objects is oddly well done even for an EDF game. It's actually weird how much effort they put into object physics, sounds, etc. Negatives: - Killing enemies isn't very fun because there's almost no sense of hit registration when you shoot something. - Invisible Walls are a bizarre and catastrophic choice: they restrict your movement across the vast maps to essentially a tunnel, even restricting your ability to return to places you've been. They also serve as a gameplay issue because killing enemies outside of them can cause weapon crates to fall out of bounds, which actually hinders progression. - Game progression is probably the slowest in the series, I never really felt like I was getting stronger because my strength was always at best matching the increasing strength of the tanky enemies. Also the way that it's tied to how many kills you get individually almost completely invalidates a team based playthrough like we did, because it just means you'll be progressing slower. - Teleportation ships are astronomically more tedious to fight than in any other game in the series. Just actual bad design. - The way you have to play the game is severely limited because some enemies are so small and so annoying to fight that you practically need auto-lock on weapons to fight them efficiently. Not that it's hard to fight them or anything, it's just more slow and tedious to fight them any other way. And this is disastrous because it completely removes the "I gotta strategize and think about what I'm bringing" aspect of EDF that is like... half of what makes the games. - The story is laughably short and ends on a cliffhanger because they were planning on finishing the story in DLC. Like my opinion of the game was already low prior, but that was such a low-note to go out on. - We didn't even get the satisfaction of taking out a mothership in this one, or really even a proper boss. :/ It's not the worst game ever or anything, but I definitely wouldn't play it over any other game we've played in the EDF series thus far.

I think it's due to the high fps that the game doesn't support. Lowering it should help. It happened to me while playing Trails from Zero.

Great game from Shu Takumi, I wish it could become a series since the gameplay and atmosphere is so unique but the story is self contained

Genuine question, is there a more unfun, poorly designed final boss fight than Munakata’s? There’s shit where it isn’t even a fight like Other M or the guy from Fable 2, but those at least end quickly. P.S. To my knowledge, there are no more terrible Jingu fights after this.
