I learnt the trade of boilermaking in the late 90s…moved into HVAC and then electronic controls from there..The mig side of things were taught to me by a craftsmen level boily, he was a cast iron expert in pressure vessel repair design and construction. So he told me that mig is just shit! TGAW is hands down the best way to weld ally. Also arc welding in general is a more solidly certain form of welding ferrous metals. Most fan boys will not like this. But I have been in the ship building industry for defence and the older methods are still used. Given the mig style is quicker, when the welds need to hold, speed is no consideration. Really the only addition to old methods over technology are addition of inert gases. People will disagree but let them. My advice comes from a craftsmen, of which are a rarity currently.

Have you ever used an Eastwood m250 I elite? I’m thinking hard on getting my first welder but I’m not exactly sure if it’s a good machine or not? I value your opinion and would very much appreciate your advice.

I love those dimes on your tig weld. Very nice. I had an old aluminum boat on a fishing trip, Fortunately, I always bring my mapp torch to start camp fires. After launching my boat, I realized a pop rivet had fallen out of the bottom of the boat. I went to Lowes and purchased an brand of stick Al solder, and it fixed the hole there at the camp site, no problem. Saved the trip.

But there is no substitute for tig or mig welding general repairs on Al.

Can you make a video on stick welding 1.0mm thick metal. I try to fabricate car panels and i have a very hard time because it solidifies so fast so that i get inclusions all the time. I use DCEN by the way and 1.6mm 6013 rods

Legend has it that there are welders and then there are grinders… I’m a grinder ! But you just taught me that i have been thinking about it all backwards… it’s not as much the heat causing me to burn through my sheet metal as it is my wire speed..

One thing people need to know. If you are welding at a place that has 3 phase, the "220" may be 208, not 240. That makes a big difference in setting the welder.

I bought one of those red HF blowers when they had them on clearance to switch to the much better grey color... With this intention, but I still grab my little ryobi fan and suck it or blow it away... Nice, you hired a welding assistant:)

😮yeah I'm unqualified but anyways the coating on a rod not just add metal to your weld it also has a chemical that helps heat up your weld to melt the rod giving you a nice puddle to continue welding in like thermite these come in different metals and work at different amps to get best results....this comment was 2minutes into your video I will now continue the video😂

I hope the new intelligent motor/light finds its way into the mitering chop saw. I have been wanting to get one for a while. I went cheap with a portable horizontal bandsaw and been unhappy with it. My shop is tiny and cluttered so its easier to adjust the blade angle instead of trying to negotiate a large piece of material around everything else in the shop.

So some grinders have a third handle mount on top. Seems like it would be handy for vertical surfaces or vertical cuts. That feature seems uncommon on grinders though. Wonder why?

Tim, have been a gas “brazer” since i was a snot nose kid. Still have my gas torch but just got the bug to do mig/stick. Love your videos. Just added a new electrical service so a solid 240v 50 amp circuit is doable. Do you have Equipment recommendations in one of your vid’s ? Thanks.

I've welded for 25 years in all processes, I've had a lot of people over the years show me different techniques and different things and over the years I've showed a lot of people different techniques and things. But by far you are probably one of the best hands on and technical instructors I've ever witnessed presenting this information in any shape form or another. You have revolutionized by far the standard at which people should teach welding. Congratulations you are you are you are amazing
