Another cool thing. In 1965 Wes was cool. He wasn't racist. In that turmoil in what was going on in 65 he shared indiscriminately with whites. I play jazz guitar., well yeah black music coming from Black however want to put it. This black guy said to me b 4 he even asked me my. Name" let me tell you first thing jazz is the black man's music" I said "I know" Dude just play. Just enjoy ourselves I don't care if didn't originate from whites. I'm white Italian American. Native Italians in Italy. They love jazz Here Wes is cool in his career as so many great black players are so cool playing with whites in jazz. I wish Wes was here with us to watch and listen to such enjoyable Guitar

Wes would come home downtrodden from work but taught himself guitar by listening to Charlie Christian and of the sorts. Since it was late in the evening, Wes would use his thumb to not wake up the neighbors.

I like how Wes was saying his guitar is always going out of tune. That's a hollow-body guitar for ya, always being affected by humidity.

I just read that he developed the thumb picking technique so he could play softly at home after work without waking his family or neighbors. Amazing!
