this is my favorite movie because what I learned from our society is... it doesn't mean if you follow the laws of the government that you are at the side of good. And what I learned was to defeat pure evil is to be evil itself, I haven't cross that line unlike Alejandro... but who knows

I think Kate is a vehicle for us to experience the story the way we would if we were placed into the movie. She's kept in the dark and sees all these terrifying thing, and struggles to understand what's going on until the end. She represents us, the viewer.

This movie was pathetic. It was a naked propaganda film for US miltary complex's desire to invade Mexico and torture and kill at will. Then afterwards some US politicians proposed doing exactly that. As if the U.S. hasn't done enough damage to Central America with a century of meddling, overthrowing elected governments, and setting up banana republics and Fascist dictators. Absolute meaningless fake-deep trash.

Great analysis, but it misses a really important point, especially in the final point you make of “evil winning a war”. The final scene of Sicario, and as it’s reflected in reality, shows that the war isn’t won. There is continuous violence. No war was won through Alejandro’s actions, nothing came of anything he did. That is because the war on drugs is a war machine in itself, the border conflicts are a war machine in itself, it fuels the existence of the cartels in Mexico. Matt says to Kate that the war on drugs is because of drug users, and if everyone just stopped doing drugs the war would stop, but that sentiment is laughable if you actually know the mechanisms of the conflict. Drug production needs to be nationalised, legalised and kept within countries to minimise such violence crossing borders, and drug addiction needs to be decriminalised and met with empathy, proper treatment and not prison. Alejandro’s story is one of personal feelings, personal vengeance and tunnel vision, and the wider story is about the United States proud war machine chugging along and pissing over disadvantaged people and its own laws. I may be the only fan of Sicario that sees the film this way I fear, most fans seem to be ex service members or fairly neoliberal in their politics. I think the film is fantastic in its portrayal of the war on drugs because if its nuance. But yeah…yap over. Brilliant video !

I am not sure you all realized, but the FBI woman was chosen because she was the weakest, she was emotional, she was easy to manipulate, the whole movie was good at making it seem as she was going to fix, make things better and push for law and order ... she was a pawn and a puppet.

My only problem with this movie, unlike Day of the Soldado, is that I'm stuck with Dead Weight 1 (Kate) and Dead Weight 2 (whatever Daniel's character name was, Kate's friend that I couldn't care less about) instead of Matt and the guys I ACTUALLY want to see. Sure, I imagine this was what made Sicario and Alejandro's character so memorable, not only him but Matt to an extent as the guy who gets and keeps everyone together. But still, having DW1 and 2 cry over everything when I'm way too familiar about how narco war works IRL, and such knowledge would make me not bat an eye to anything Matt does turn the movie into a bit of an unbearable experience at times.

I do believe that 'The Horse in Motion' may have been the first proper film or short film, but before that in 1874 their was Jules Janssen's 'Passage De Venus', which was a series of photographs that depict the transit of the planet Venus across the sun on the 9th of December 1874, and what i believe to be the first experience the world had with anything even remotely close to film.

You need a new job, this was inaccurate and at times borderline misinformation. You couldn't even match the correct screenwriter to the film via footage to make your point. Sketchy dude. No like, no subscribe. Thanks for playing.

Thank you for explaining all the reasons I was utterly unable to connect to the movie in any way. I never understood why it was so well received. But then again it kind of seems like the movie is using some of the same tactics horror movies use - which I find very uninteresting as well.

I was very lucky to stumble on this film. Emily Blunt was outstanding as Kate. Everything goes through her and so to the audience member lives through her to keep the tension on the edge. A masterpiece on all aspects and is worth an amasing through all aspects. From cinematography and a sense of realism.

Everytime I watch this movie, I learn something new. Everyone played their role to perfection but even still; Josh Brolin's character played a spook to perfection. The harmless demeanor yet, the body language of cold blooded killer and Alejandro couldn't have portrayed Revenge, any better.
