I'd have been at the T&Cs gigs in late 88 / early 89. I don't remember anything bad about them. I don't even remember any bottling, but wasn't it part of a general 'stage antagonism' between artist and audience at that time, especially from Miles Hunt IIRC.

Oh they just released one great single and album after another. Crazy that only Echo beach was huge really. M+M later had the brilliant Black Stations White Stations and I believe that Martha J and Tim are still recording. Thank you for posting this. A single that was released when nearly every new single was wonderful!

I loved Poppies back in the day... Still do. We used to throw stuff as a compliment, believe it or not. It was to show our appreciation. We ALL did it... not with bottles , just plastic cups . We had smiles on our faces. Wonderstuff got it with shoes thrown... again , as a compliment ☢️☢️

This was filmed a fortnight before transmission whereas this song was currently in the chart but unfortunately, it got deleted by the label despite rising to #63 in early May. Pity.
