Damm! I think my brand new X100VI was broken too! I got an XT5 and an older XPRO2 and none of those make that noise. So it's normal in this camera ? V/VI

Yes it’s normal according to Fujifilm. Afaik V/VI use the same focus motor so the noise they produce is also similar.

X100f is much quieter than x100v. I thought my x100v was broken too😅

I bought the XE4 with the 27mm f2.8 WR. That lens also makes clumky noises. It's normal, but not desirable. External focusing should be a thing of the past by now. My X100V also makes this noise.

I also own the 27mm f2.8 but the old one (not WR). That one is very loud during videos making it almost impossible to capture videos without external mic. Is the sound of the X100V during videos as loud as for the 27mm? Asking because I am thinking about buying a X100VI once they are becoming available again.

THISSS I hate that you can hear the noise when recording video. I'd have to buy an external mic but I don't even know which one.

People always talk about silent leaf shutter. But never about the external focusing mechanism making noise. I wonder why.

Mine does this and it's just as loud in photo mode. You can tell that in movie mode the camera focuses slower so that it looks smoother when recording movies. Because of this it's more silent when the motor moves. Any camera will pick up the lens focus motor with it's built in mic. If you want to record video seriously then you need to buy an external mic.

Thanks for your reply. My main issue with it is the noise in photo mode. It is very easily audible indoors. One of the reasons why I included video mode here is to demonstrate how easy it is to hear despite it being much quieter than photo mode.
