I learned the tape trick several years ago when making tape was 5 for $1.00 😅. My sewing machine needle isn't crazy about it. What machine are you using?
@WendiGratz11 күн бұрын
This machine is a Pfaff Lifestyle which they don't make anymore. My current machine is a Bernina 710. I think it's the tape more than the machine that will be a factor. I've used scotch tape and painters tape with no needle problems, but the painters tape is easier to pull off. The scotch tape tends to sliver.
@DiannaAtherton11 күн бұрын
@@WendiGratz I agree about the painters tape. I also use the 2" wide for marking a 2" border. Love that stuff. I also have a pfaff222e. My mother bought it new in the 70's. I just dropped it off for repair. A belt. No biggie. I would love a newer PFAFF and serger. They are so nice in design. Ferrari of machines

So you quilt the fabric before adding the appliqué
@WendiGratz13 күн бұрын
I do - but you can applique first if you prefer. I've done it both ways - I just like "doodling" on the fabric to quilt without having to go around the applique. 🙂

But I’ve wanted to hand quilt and felt so discouraged due to the perfectionism I see. But you are amazing and totally right! As long as I like it- who cares? I appreciate you!

Hi! I watched you stuff the kitty… and was inspired to use a paper cone and chopstick to add more micro beads into a flimsy neck pillow.. I scotch-TAPED the paper cone to the hole… viola! Less spills and I could scoop up any spilled beads back into the cone. Hope this helps the rest! ❤🎉

I wonder if I could buy a quilt and then stitch through it. I just want to stitch, not make a quilt.
@WendiGratzАй бұрын
You can absolutely do that! It's called a whole-cloth quilt. Just buy any fabric you like and layer it like a quilt - front, back and batting. Stitch through all the layers and bind the edges. When I do this I like to use the design on the fabric to guide my stitches - stitching along stripes, for example, or around motifs.

I know nothing about quilting, but I heard somewhere that the proper number of stitches per inch is nine. That is where the old saying comes from, "a stich in time saves nine." I don't know exactly what that saying means other than don't rush, but that is what I heard.
