I have really enjoyed watching all your pointe shoe videos! Even though I have very different feet than you, I learned soo soo much just from watching your videos! I really have no suggestions for future videos from you. I just came to say you are such an enjoyable person to watch and listen to. You are so humble, friendly and honest. That is a rare quality! I can very much relate to the struggle of motivation and finding time to dance/take class. I too work full time, and I am a caretaker to a husband who had a double lung transplant last year and is now dealing with metastatic cancer (found in his old lungs only after they were removed and now has spread in his body). I am 52 and my body feels it. Ballet is HARD on your body! I will say I have found motivation to keep going with it by learning ballet variations from online KZbin videos. Most are videos that are specifically geared for adult beginning or intermediate students to learn easier versions of variations (Natalie Orr videos rock for this!). I have fallen in love with doing this! So much fun! Though I am recycling the same costumes to perform in due to financial issues lol. I also cross train/exercise by doing a lot of calisthenics, some ballet geared some not. I swim when I can. Admittedly I am down to 2 ballet barre classes per week (from free online ballet videos, mostly Dutch National Ballet class series or Maria Khoreva's free class videos). Very occasionally I do center classes online and twice per week I do short pointe online classes too. I have not been to a real live class in four years. There is always the issue of time and money as an adult isn't there! The nice thing about doing ballet as a hobby is there is not the pressure to be perfect, or spend hours and hours at it and so on. I have gotten snide comments from competitive people about lack of dedication or "quitting" when I was young. I just let those go over my head. All of us have different circumstances and life takes us in all kinds of directions. Maybe I will have my husband check out your photography things. He is really into that (and he is very nice, not judgy). Best wishes to you!

You are so kind! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all medical/health issues! I can’t even imagine the stress! I absolutely have done the same with learning variations from KZbin to help too!! I love doing that! (I don’t do it as often as I should though haha)

Have you tried bloch etu? Blochs version of gaynors.

I haven’t. Most Blochs I’ve tried in the past other than Heritage don’t work for me

@AllieOnPointe I thought they might be worth trying on since they are similar to the US gaynors and I know you used to wear them. :)

Hi! I have a question. Was your dress ivory only nude only? I similarly purchased my dream dress but it had a mocha lining. It seemed a bit dark for me. I was able to customize the dress to include the champagne liner. So now mine is ivory tulle and lace over champagne lace and a champagne liner. I’m so excited for my dress but am trying to envision it with the customization! Your dress was beautiful!
@AllieOnPointe2 ай бұрын
That’s so exciting!!! Oh gosh I’m trying to remember what mine was 🙈😅 I know it was darker originally and I changed it to the champagne liner. But other than that I’m not sure

This makes me feel so seen, because I’ve had the exact same struggles as you, and I have the very similar feet, that are very unpractical for ballet. Love this, I also have freeds, because it’s the only shoe where I can roll through Demi pointe without getting bruises on my foot where the hamp meets the foot in Demi pointe. I feel like you very rarely see feet like this, because it’s not ideal, and I’ve strugglerd so much to find someone like me, to guide me on what’s best for my feet. I can’t express how genuinely happy this makes me. I was also wondering, if you could make a video on how to improve your feet? Because I’ve tried to improve them for over 2 years now, but they still lack mobility and I can’t get completely over the box. Im very strong and have very stable ankles tho, I just lack the mobility to get over the box.

Aww I’m so glad this helped you!! And I totally feel you!! I don’t think I’m the best to give any advice on improving your feet as I haven’t really don’t much of that but there are definitely good videos on KZbin full of exercises!

Hi Allie I like your pointe shoe collection. Your channel is nice I like it. How long have you been dancing and do you take classes with Kathryn Morgan?
@AllieOnPointe3 ай бұрын
Hi! I’ve been dancing since I was 3! (With some breaks here and there throughout my life) I’ve taken some of KM KZbin classes but not often. (She has wonderful classes though!) If I’m not at the studio I usually just do my own exercises when I have time. :)

Bit late seeing your video but if you want to put a filter on it you need to use an adapter ring. Just buy a normal front plastic cap of the corresponding size and you are good to go.

@AllieB! Wow! Thank you, and congratulations for sharing so many deets (details)! You gave a masterclass in what adult ballet is, and is NOT, about! Id really like to have a written transcript of what you shared here. You have plenty of courage, and you're a grown woman, and you're a multi talented person. Really hope you'll keep going forward with your learning, including ballet (if you want to continue ballet), but also whatever else you'd like to pursue. Thanks so much, again! 👍🏽

What kind of camera do you use? I noticed that you use portrait mode instead of landscape mode. Is there a reason for that? Perhaps you’re using your iPhone for that. But in a short, I see three cameras in the background! Which one is your favorite for KZbin?
@AllieOnPointe9 ай бұрын
Oh man haha I have a loooot of cameras. Even more now that I do photography professionally. I generally prefer horizontal photos and videos because I’m more likely to use them for other social media. I really only use landscape for KZbin specific videos. For like filming in class I always just used my phone and connected my watch so that I can start and stop recording as I needed. It’s too hard to set up a camera and have it record when I wanted. But outside of class I currently use Fujifilm and Canon cameras (Fuji is my compact and more for everyday and fun cameras but they still produce amazing images!) and Canon I really only use for my paid gigs now. For filming for KZbin I usually use either my canon g7x or one of my larger canons since they all have a flip screen to see myself in frame.

Thank you so much for this video <33 I want to start pointe in the near future (I’m beginner to intermediate teenager dance) and I’ve been so scared be unable to do pointe due to my low arch. I feel like all the fittings I find here on KZbin are of girls with crazy good arches so I felt weird about it. This really helped and it really goes to show how pretty and strong feet look even without banana feet. Keep it up!!

Hi Allie, I struggled for years with flat feet and bunions as an adult ballet dancer. It was terrible back in the 90's. Just wondering what type of pointeshoes ended up working for you? Do you have any suggestions as to what I could try for starters if I want to try pointe again?
