Thank you for this video! Did you do anything to prepare for your clinical rotation prior to starting? (ie reviewing MNT notes, purchase study guide, etc.)

Hi! I have both Inman and the RD in a flash cards and am having more success with the RD in a flash bc I think I am just a flashcard kind of girl and don't do as well sitting looking at a page of notes. Do you think if I stick to just the flashcards and learn the math that would be enough prep? Or should I do both? Just running out of time and trying to take my test first week of September. Thanks for the help!

The link to the RD IN A FLASH were the exact same questions (verbatim!) as the physical ones. I know because sometimes lent me the cards after I had already started using the quizlet link. I will say that there may be an updated version available for purchase. I used them in 2013 for my 2014 test.

in my case it takes me longer to learn this than an average person. so I should study maybe for 2 months.cuz I process information a little slow.

Loved this video, I am still completing my general ed in community college :/ and it scares me to head on to nutrition which I really love because I feel that so much information on health is out there already that I will have trouble finding a job once I'm done. Good luck with your near future I hope you find a position you love and I will be looking into the rest of your videos to learn some more :)

On my test, I had about 4-5 food service questions. Mostly on % yield, conversions, and scoop size conversions. I also had one clinical questions regarding a flush. Hope this helps!

Hi! taking the test soon. About how many foodservice math/equation problems would you say there are? I am struggling trying to remember all of the equations and have gone through Inman's domain 3 & 4 a couple times.

Can you Vlog about your life as a working registered dietitian? Where are you in your journey? Are you working as a clinical dietitian, in community nutrition, food service management, business and industry, private etc.? Where do you see yourself? What are the negative and positive aspects of your career. The insides of your position. I am sure I speak for all of your viewers, you should keep making videos to advocate for the field of dietetics!

just wanted to say i love your videos. im going to school to be a dtr and im finding your videos very helpful. i have a question though it may be random lol. im volunteering at a hospital to get some experience before my supervised practice. what should i wear going into the hospital? and what type of shoes do rds usually wear in that setting? any help would be appreciated. thanks, Ashlie

Hi Ashlie, RDs are usually allowed to wear business casual clothing. They usually have on some black slacks, a cute sweater, and they LOVE to wear Dansko shoes! However, at some (few from what I've noticed) hospitals RDs will wear scrubs. But I think you would be fine to wear slacks, a sweater/blouse, and closed toed shoes (if in the kitchen) or flats (if walking on the floor). :) Hope this helps - it's always a good idea to be dressed appropriately, great question!

If you dont mind me asking, what GPA did you achieve and what are the general requirements for GPA?
@TransitionDietitian
@TransitionDietitian 9 жыл бұрын
My overall GPA was a 3.2 and my DPD (dietetic) GPA was a 3.6. While my GPA was definitely NOT a 4.0, it was consistent with a student that is very involved in school activities (in the Student Senate most students did not have >3.5). I was focused on making myself "well-rounded" and volunteered in my off time and was very active in the Student Dietetic Association and student government. Just remember, "GPA is not everything!" It is important, however, to look at the overall GPA and DPD GPA requirements for each internship, they all differ. I've seen internships with a minimum 3.5 overall GPA, and some that have 3.0 as their minimum. And if you find that your GPA does not meet their minimum - look further to see if you can take the GRE (graduate school) exam. At UNCo, if you have less than a 3.0, you can take the GRE and as long as you score in the 50th percentile or higher - they will consider your application. I hope this helps!
@TransitionDietitian

It is also important to state why your GPA might be lower than the other applicants in your Personal Statement. I was advised to do this if it is below a 3.5 overall GPA
