Our has the same smell. Now the bearing is going. Got some new machines coming next week. Had to call 3 times on home warranty for this thing. I'm done.

Replace the drain pump..... or install one. And check the drain in your wall between the water lines. Could be clogged

Has anyone tried leveling (or checking level) of their machine? I noticed this part that holds water appears to be stationary (never spins)... so if the machine is not level it will of course, collect water. Coincidentally... I just bought a new maytag and happened to read the part of the installation instructions that has the leveling procedure... ha... maybe that's why mine smelled in it's final days. We had it for 12 years and *only* started to smell the last couple months, but started to run out of spin balance and shook itself to death, LoL...
@twizz57272 жыл бұрын
Is the machine perfectly level? It may not be draining the excessive water bc of that.

It's stupid machine creators fault. So that is why I only buy Samsung or LG. They are always best. Much over maytag and whirlpool. Soon they will be gone like many other washing dryer companies which no longer exist. Just like TV how Zenith went out from TV. Zenith didn't bother to improve they just thought people will stay within their customers forever for being loyal customers.

Good video but you didn't remove the filter under that white piece and in the other videos it gets nasty and moldy. Most likely why your going back in after months not years
@fk45152 жыл бұрын
Please remember this is not a Maytag, it's a Whirltag or Maypool. It is actually a Whirlpool washer as Maytag went away when the financial crisis crashed them.

Nice video. Fun fact. Pretty much. 99.99% of washers all hold water in the drum and drain system. Front loads are bad for Mildewy nasty smelling water. Definitely routine maintenance and or proper cleaner usage will help deter the smell. And of course cleaner clothes.

Use Gain powdered laundry detergent and you will never have this mold problem.
@laurenmartin77202 жыл бұрын
How will that help? Considering their water does not drain all the way out, causing the mold?
@TaterPS2 жыл бұрын
@@laurenmartin7720 if you start with a machine that is mold-free, you will not have a problem. I haven't had to deal with mold in any top loading machine since switching to Gain powder over seventeen years ago. It was constant battle of mold when I used liquid laundry detergents. Good luck.

Nice post. I think all owners of this machine would be better off by running the Clean Washer cycle with appropriate washer cleaner (I use Tide's version) at least as often as when the reminder light comes on. This stuff apparently removes deposits, including mold. I needed to replace the drum bearings and came across this nastiness after about 6 years of use. We never used the Clean Washer cycle before that - I thought it was a gimmick. The outside of my drum was covered in dark colored build-up of grime and it took a good scrubbing to remove it. I run the clean cycle when the reminder light comes on and it's odor free for 6 months now since the bearing replacement. If you do have the machine apart, I agree with others that the bottom strainer should also be removed and cleaned.

I have the Maytag Bravos washer and dryer and they’re 3 years old and have been nothing but trouble. Definitely will not be buying a Maytag again. We have put a new transmission on our washer, a new censor in our dryer, the start button for the dryer constantly breaks and I have to fix it. Maytag covered NONE of it under their warranty. Now I’m going to check it for this too, so thank you for this video. This is the first and last Maytag I’ll be buying.

You could use a Dollar store turkey baster to suck out most of the funk from those cavities Rubbing alcohol won't kill mold. and Kill mold with chlorine bleach or (1qt hydrogen peroxide+ 1 tsp baking soda+ 1 tsp clear dish detergent.)

Thanks Robin. Very clear instructions. I had the machine open to replace the water valve and thought that while the machine was open I would also clean the bottom per your instructions. No problems whatsoever. Popping the tub out was a little difficult, but with about a half dozen strong jerks it came up. I also disconnected the water fill connection, but first put a piece of duct tape around the hose so the clamp would not side all the way down.

I leave the lid open when not in use, no smell ever. In your case, I would've run a hot cycle with only bleach. I don't like these new HE machines. I don't believe they clean as well as the standard ones.

I cant win with this damn washing machine

Thanks for showing us this! Good job. I have this washer and it doesn't work well at all. I have heard people set it to bedding or put already wet clothes in to use more water - since it folks based on weight... but sometimes it doesn't rinse all the way. (because of weight again?)
@skenney83255 жыл бұрын
Okay, I came for something else (CONSTANT unbalanced load...tub spins wayvoff balance), but I have had a little smell. I know they sell a "clean washer" solution. Is this designed to make us buy that??? You have to wonder. Also, can you not add some bleach to the tub? Maybe then run a load of something that needs a little? Because this is GROSS. With this, however, I can see how to get the tub out. That's a start for my problem! Thanks!! My washer before this (GE)...not much to look at, but after 25 years, oh well. Had it not leaked, my dryer wouldn't look so bad now (the Maytag is quite pretty). Makes me think about getting a whole new pair when the time comes. I hate not being able to fill the tub and stop it to soak things. I DID finally figured out how to make it spin without an additional rinse...since it stops with the UL every single time. 🙄 It's a start!! Don't you just love progress? Not.

If one more person suggests to "run a hot water cycle, leave the lid open when not in use, use bleach or clean with affresh" suggestion I'm going to scream! You idiots...r u specifically skipping over the comments/parts where people say they do all that and still have the problem? You cant possibly b that ignorant! Jjeeeesssshhh! I feel ya Robin P I am about to do mine and I already know that is exactly the issue. But for even more added fun we do so much laundry with the boys sports I have 2 washers. So that makes me double pissed n knew we should of went with another brand!
