I know this was 5 years ago but worth an ask.. On a cold day do you use tire warmers and if not how many laps would you advise before the tires are as safe as can be?
@EllzIS2002 жыл бұрын
Buy tyre warmers, one of the best investments you can make when track day'ing. If you can't then at least 2 laps, slowly build the pace until you've got confidence. Don't slow on coming in lap, keep the heat in the tyres and check pressures when you get in. One of the biggest issues without warmers is tyre pressure readings, it's very hard to get a measure of what they are really at when you are out of track.

Great riding, congrats. You can easily improve 1 or 2 secs if you take a wider left on the chicane before you take the right, giving you the chance to accelerate earlier (I hate that part) and you can ride a lot faster on the last turn. Again, great riding! Maybe we'll meet in Estoril this year.

Enjoyed the video. What laptimer/display is that?
@EllzIS2004 жыл бұрын
Cheers Johnnuy. The software is called race chrono. You can use it directly on your phone, but the GPS is logged at 1hz (1 point per second) which is too slow. You can get a Bluetooth GPS receiver that will log at 5 or 10hz that gets you enough data to give you smooth read outs. I use a qstarz bt818. Can pick them up for about 50 quid second hand. You then over lay the data on the video in the race chrono app.

Hi, this was an old gopro3, logging data from a qstarz bt818 to my phone, app on the phone is race chrono, which then you import the video to and can edit in there. All pretty simple and fairly cheap.

what tyres you on mate? Had my first outing for 14 years on Monday on my zX10, think I have the bug back. The bT016s I m on don't seem to bite too hard..
@EllzIS2005 жыл бұрын
Good to hear you've got the bug back. I used to run Pirelli slicks and love the front but on a litre the rears dont last long, have recently moved to Dunlop KR slicks. The Dunlops seem to give grip for longer, but they cost a bit more. I'm going to try some Bridgestone VO2s next year as also meant to be good and prices arent too bad

Er the obvious really - "it's not a race" it's a track day... When you watch this carefully, people were starting to "avoid" you... the "fake" battle coz you probably really annoyed him - this is a track day not a race !!! Get a race licence if you are that keen. Classic ALL THE GEAR BUT NO IDEA.... Sometimes "people" like you get kicked off.... Think ON...
@EllzIS2005 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching. Not really sure who you feel "avoided" me, clearly you must be seeing things other have not. The guy in black and yellow leathers I follow out of the pits and for a few laps is a good friend, letting off the brakes in to turn one was him having a giggle. The guy I'm following in the black and white leathers, pink bike is also a mate. Both of them are racers, I am not. There was respect and space given at all times, when he came past on the back straight we were having a look over at each other giggling, we all came in and had loved it. None of the overtakes were risky at all. In the 8 years of doing track days I've never had anyone complain about my riding. Not sure what group you wobble around in, but you are more than welcome to come along and meet me or one of the guys at a track for some pointers. Cheers

How the hell you allow yourself to comment on someone's video having NO IDEA of who is him/her and who is he/she riding with? or their skills nor any other details? Do you actually ride a bike or you are sitting on the sofa criticizing peoples videos? That is a track day where you normally go to push your bike, and probably if you do not live into a thermo flask you might have some mates to ride with and enjoy the track! By the way nice ride, and I am a fan of Spiderpig!

Nice vid. What equipment did you use to create the timing and graphics on the video?
@EllzIS2006 жыл бұрын
This is all done through RaceChrono app. RaceChrono Website here : racechrono.com/ Lots of forum content and the app writer gets back to questions quite quickly. Most stuff has already been asked though so search first. Qstarz BT818 - Bluetooth GPS receiver - like this one - tinyurl.com/y9ao6zjt Then you just link your phone via bluetooth to the GPS receiver and chuck it in your pocket and away you go. The reason you need the GPS receiver is due to the frequency your phone will log at (1hz) that GPS receiver logs at 10hz. Hope that helps.

Good footage, do you mind sharing what you use to display your telemetry, especially lap times. Just bought a GoPro which can overlay circuit and speed but I am missing lap times. Also any idea what a reasonable lap time is for mid pack inters on a litre (naked) bike?
@EllzIS2006 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, you commented on one of my other videos a few days ago. This is all done through RaceChrono app. I believe the newest gopro might be able to do some sort of telemetry but not 100% sure if it does laptimes. This is using RaceChrono software. You have to use it on your phone, its a little fiddly but not too difficult. If you check out my silverstone video I posted the other day I have a different lay out now. Cheers

Gopro3 using gopro sticky mounts. Then used a Bluetooth GPS reciever Qstarz BT818 and racechrono app on my phone. Software to overlay was Dashware but this has stopped working on my computer now, so now use the racechrono pro software on my phone to over lay.
