I'm surrounded by people who think their dogs are cute, "its my baby" or for status. Yet when they ask how our pitty is so well mannered and has ears, is because we trained her from day dot, patience, food, kids, any scenario. Not when you choose to. Or because they're not being cute anymore 🤣 Speak on it bro 👏
@hiyabuddy727 күн бұрын
Man opened the gate for the dog... Closes it on his/her face... That's how we stop the escape artists??? Bro...wtf ... You're confusing the dog and teaching it that they can't count on your signals and verbal cues. The only thing you're teaching that dog is that you're inconsistent and not dependable. You want your dog to act immediately on signal or command, Not too have to sit there and wonder if your giving them a test right now. (EDIT) Didn't want to change my original post because I still stand by it and see some truth in it... But I did want to say that I didn't mean to come off hostile or judgemental and I did both. I apologize for that. I can tell the dog is well cared for and that's all that matters. You train your pets however you'd like and I'm sure they're very well behaved. Again, just wanted to apologize for being so rude about sharing my opinion. Cause that's all it was. But anything we can do to keep the dog from running out the front door is definitely a GOOD thing
@romainecromwell295927 күн бұрын
U sound crazy. Just because I open the cage or a door doesn’t mean he is allowed fly out. My dog will sit and wait for my command. This is not a signal or command that’s necessary for a dog to be effective at protecting me or my home. If I want him to fly out I’ll give him a command while simultaneously opening the door.
@hiyabuddy727 күн бұрын
@romainecromwell2959 I'm very comfortable with sounding crazy. I guess at the end of the day it shouldn't matter what any of us do, as long as the animals in question understand you(the owner) and they are content and well trained is all you can ask for. But it just seems odd to me to close a gate door on the dog after opening it. I feel that's different then opening it and then instructing it to wait until you give a sign. I do that with my dogs meals... That yt name is awesome by the way.
@sebby557427 күн бұрын
@hiyabuddy7 I get what your trying to say, but closing the door on the dog will teach it to be hesitant before coming out of the cage because they know what happens when they aren’t assured by the owner to come out on command. Dogs are beautiful animals that, just like any other animal, learn through trial and error, and don’t hold a grudge when u close a cage on them. They’re made for hunting, guarding, and cooperative nature they aren’t meant to be treated as humans (to avoid long term behavioral and physiological issues)
@hiyabuddy727 күн бұрын
@@sebby5574 ya know, those are all really good points. I for sure tend to "humanize" dogs more than I probably should as well. I will fully admit to this. They've always been more part of the family to us than utilizing them for what they have been bred for. Either is good imo as long as the animal is well taken care of. But anyway,I do agree when what you're saying, thanks for the different side of view👍👊

Its a dumb comparison, but i get this. Growing up I had 2 siblings of the opposite gender, both older. If they didn't want to go to the water park, neither did I. They were the people that I played games and hung out with, so unless they played something, neither would I. It wouldn't be interesting if its just me wanting to do something.

That's amazing! I have a 6 month old French Bulldog. This is my first one. My fiance bought her for me. When she thinks she's in trouble, she goes into hiding. If we show any aggression in our voice, she goes into her cage or hide. How can I break this habit? My fiance has an aggressive nature, but he tries to tone it down so she's not scared. I don't know what to do.

I'm here from your IG post. My pit/lab I described. He's a big puppy for his age. Do I need to get him a short leash for training him? He doesn't have leash manners per se because I always walked him on retractable leash.
@djk9dogtraining3 ай бұрын
@@itscg88 Get a 4 or 6 foot leash for sure. You def want to build a foundation with your dog so you have some type of communication when your getting into situations where he reacts. The video I just posted today with the German shepherd shows it more.
@itscg883 ай бұрын
@djk9dogtraining I have a 6-foot leash, but it seems too long in order for me to gain enough control. I'm going to try a 4-foot leash and see how that works. Also, as far as socializing or with certain reactive behaviors it's hard to contain him and it takes him a min to calm down. Even if we have visitors that give him treats he's still inclined to jump up and bark and etc But he's not doing it from an aggressive place at first but if I don't let him get close or inspect he does get defensive and starts to growl. Idk. I feel like I might have to get him trained by a professional because outside of that or when it's just he and I he listens but as soon as something sets him off... it's hard to contain. My fear is if he were to ever get loose someone else could see him as a threat because of his size not knowing that he's not going to attack or bite. He's actually more in fear since he's still young to some extent. That's a lot but I hope it makes sense
