Thanks for your interest. There's no other version of this at the moment, but maybe I might get round to it soon...! I assume you are thinking of an SATB arrangement?

Just purchased this score. Thanks for adding the helpful videos. I aim to take a very first stab at directing a choir from scratch and this seems like a good, challenging and enjoyable level for beginners.

Thank you. Actually the orchestra was generated using software (Sibelius and NotePerformer), but the bassoon playing was mine!

I enjoyed that. To have a versified version with refrain makes for a refreshing contrast to the usual version. Is there a Nunc to go with it?
@philiplebas3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for listening to it and for your comment. I have written a Nunc Dimittis (kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6PZh5mbZ8uEb5Y), though it is a rather different format. I hope you enjoy it...

Sorry to take so long to reply! It's available from all sorts of publishers, or you can download transcriptions of it for free from CPDL: www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/How_beautiful_upon_the_mountains_(John_Stainer)

I sang this about a year ago in a programme of Passion music in a choir of 20 voices - it was for me the highlight of the concert. The inner parts are very melodic (always a good sign?) and a suitable setting for these great words. There's a magic/spiritual blend of melancholy and hope in the music - I had the tenor part as an ear worm for months. (The tenor entry in bar 8 shivers down the spine, and again resolution in the last 3 bars. Just want to go back and sing it all again) I keep coming back to hear this version but I keep hoping that it will appear in KZbin with a real choir. In my opinion it deserves to become well-known.

Hi Philip I really like this piece especially the whole tone scales! Kate Ryder sent me the score and will dutifully practice it at home and with the pianist at our chamber Music class on Mondays at Morley. I have a counterpoint class at Citylit from 1.30-15.30 on Mondays so realistically I could only get back for about 4pm but I'm sure we can find the time to pop in for the last 30 minutes of the session. When we are up to speed we'll let you know. I'm always early for the chamber music group which starts at 5pm so need be I could have a quick chat before you leave on Monday. Colin Way

Yo, I really liked this piece, so I made some part-dominant rehearsal tracks of it and threw them on a playlist, I can't link it because of YT comment rules, but it's the only thing on my channel. And yes, it took a while to transcribe and sync the whole piece. Great song!
