Very insightful. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to reading. BTW I’m hearing a slight Cork accent from Gareth or maybe it’s me. 😊 🇯🇲

Great guest and equally great questions . What I think about as we transition to an all electric economy is that most of my family’s travel distance is less than 15 miles a day per vehicle and I keep thinking with just a small solar system I could provide enough energy for our two vehicles to provide 90 % of our transportation needs long distance charging after that.

Hahaha, they were total dung, and I have an allotment not far from your house and when these were around they were often in the ouseburn river, and twice one was lobbed in to my garden. I tried one and the tires are solid rubber and it was barely useful on flat ground, never mind the banks and hills in Newcastle. Total rubbish and I thought they were electric/pedal assist but not. They should have been only for the quay side. Now apparently the orange scooters are barred from loads of Newcastle by GPS but you only find out when you get near a place. What Newcastle upon Tyne needs is a bike rental service for long term, so maybe get the council to get a Chinese company to invest in loads of electric bikes for long term rental and that would be a big hit. I do hope with your contacts in Newcastle council that there won't be a war in electric bikes that politicians are set on, because it's just stupid, and will hit the pockets of the most needy and the people who use them to stay fit. Newcastle and it stupidity towards roundabouts and cars is mad enough. Tax and insurance is wrong for a bike, and then points in a licence and fines, it's going to turn people off and everyone will switch to motorbikes like a few people I know have done.

Great video thanks! As the owner of Dynamix skatepark I think this is a STUPIDLY CAPITALIST IDEA, no helmets, and students on nights out??? Drunk riding with no helmets yeh??? Also I’m just walking my dogs on the tyne right now, do you know how many of these Mobikes are being thrown into the river everyday? I’ve met some of the thugs doing it and have found one resprayed Mobike with the lock cut off it... that’s just in Gateshead on the same day!

I think your problem is that there aren't many bikes near you and you have hills. I live in Berlin where there are no hills and there are normally bikes on every block. I rarely have gave to walk more than 10 m to find one, and just ride them to the train station to catch public transport.
@asdf16166 жыл бұрын
I think the use case for this bikes is to combine them with public transport, and use it instead of walking when in the city centre.
@nixonsmateruby12 жыл бұрын
They are absolutely horrible to ride. So glad they are gone because they were just dumped everywhere. You know how bad they were because no one wanted to steal one.

Are these not electric so should easily go up a hill????
@TerraInfirmaLtd7 жыл бұрын
They're the opposite of electric! You provide the power for the GPS lock, lights etc via the dynamo.

Gareth, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on marketing for solo consultants. It's really great advice and actually applicable to most types of consultancy, not just those in the environmental sector. And all the very best with your business.

I wish I had found this video before I had the website designed for my new consultancy in carbon management and energy efficiency. My logo includes a tree. Oh boy, I will have to get the website person to deforest my website, letterhead and business cards. Very informative video. I'm going to apply your technique. PS. I don't think your head looks like a bag of spanners. Maybe a guy just released from Wormwood Scrubs...just joking.

As the owner of an environmental consulting firm myself, I found the business perspectives in this video very eye-opening and beneficial. Some of the techniques, but not all, I already so myself. Others provided real food for thought (including the existence of the video itself). Good stuff!
