My dad, (rest in peace, i love you) introduced me to classic B/W movies. I'm so glad he did, as all modern actors have come political,

When he picks up his pocket-watch and listens to it, after a train ran over it, cracked me up. Thanks, Classic film.

Most humorous, and MOST ADVENTUROUS!!!! Unique, I have never seen a film like this. And the train shots are incredible, the best I have seen so far. It beats any of the modern movies I have seen in the past 20 years. A must, and a great one for repeated seeing! Thank you Mr. Hay, and all the actors, and the engine!

It was such an adventure riding on a mainline train that travelled through the streets of Weymouth. I really miss it!

33:58 thats a insane shot, and its real, 2 old men, if Will Hay or Moore Mariot fell over they would of lost their legs or worse been cut in half, look how close Will comes to the train as it passes him, mere inches. they really didnt give a fuck about safety back then

Watched this when I was about 6 years old in the mid 1960s. Laughed my socks off! Apparently, Jimmy Perry said that Captain Mainwaring, Corporal Jones and Private Pike in Dad's Army were inspired by watching Oh, Mr Porter!

A true English comedy film classic. Will Hay, Moore Marriot & Graham Moffat were a brilliant comedy trio.

For those who may be interested, whilst Buggleskelly was well known as being Cliddesden station (on the Basingstoke to Alton railway) the opening sequences are reverse footage from the rear of a train at Popham Tunnels, Tunnel Junction to Southampton Tunnel and Southampton Tunnel to the east end of Southampton Central station.

Now you see, this is like with the waste of time demolition of didcot power station A, which cost 4 lives, injured many people and cut power to 40000 homes for a breif time. We're so quick to take our history and drown it, hoping that our books do what the peice of history didn't, withstand the test of time
