hottest brand on the market going on many years now...with advancements in engine and control technologies (huge horsepower, auto trim, all electric hydraulics, internal hydraulics, much simpler electronics, more durable engines, better engine mounts, joy stick controls, spot locking on and on and on at the moment) that have made this platform literally blow away anything other than the like type.

Fantastic hull for sure. Heres a question. So if one was to hit say a floating log or a dead head impacting one pontoon at speed the result might be? Ive owned about 10 monos but still need trust before i purchase one of these golden dreams

Taking waves comfortably is a balance between planing and displacement. The amount of water displaced (in forward motion) is equal to the amount of weight distributed to that area of the hull designed to cut through each wave without lift. So if your taking a pounding in any boat you will need to either slow down, reducing the planing effect, or move ballast forward. Trim tabs are an excellent addition allowing you to control the bow angle, or force the nose down in rough seas and get the cutting part of your hull working without having to loose your plane. All this being said if you add the beam width factor, giving you amazing stability and the fact that you also achieve lift with the tunnel, allowing for less drag and better fuel efficiency, the cat is definitely worth checking out.

DOUG FERGUSON My friend bought a 2012 32 with twin 300 Yamahas. The boat is a beast in the big stuff and I have been on and run my share over the years. Fuel efficiency is great as well. The comments bellow re cracking etc...those are not World Cats lol.

No I don't think so, but have watched a fair amount on here. We took his 32 out on purpose last January in 25-30 knot onshore winds. Off Ana Maria Island in The Gulf. Shallow water full on curling breakers in close. Average height 4.5-5ft up to about 7ft. I had him purposefully put her beam to at 25 mph and it tracked perfectly. Not to mention the rigidity of the hull running head on into things at 21-30mph. Excellent sea keeping abilities. A big twin engine Grady of about 30 came up to the bridge at the same time. He took one look and stopped. they watched us head out though lol. Note we purposefully ran with full tanks for weight as well.

Time Flies Charters Yes, the good designers/manufacturers worked out the sneeze factor. The 32 has a big high sponson with good volume to it but some of the smaller World Cats don’t have as much freeboard and sponson size. It huffed a bit in that shallow sloppy beach area but ride was dry/as good as any boat would get in those conditions. Course and speed a factor of course. Especially when the goal is to find its flaws/ make it show its weaknesses. I wanted to see what it would do and how it would react when purposely put into situations which most boats would show weakness in. Slash deliver that oh f$&@ moment. Haven’t been in a Freeman yet. Was a bunch of them lined up at a resort Marina on Stock Island by Key West when I was there a few months ago. Couldn’t stop looking at them lol. They are definitely fast compared to the WC. To be fair though one is an SUV and the other a Corvette. One brute force in a way the other a scalpel. The WC tops out at 50mph basically. They can see low 50’s. Depending on load, conditions etc with the twin 300 Yammmies. Where the Freeman would come in about significantly faster with the same set up. The WC hulls were not designed to be that performance hull to run over 50. The Freeman’s are/were definitely designed run and built to run over 60 and do it. Good serious hardcore units. I would love a good run in one. If your doing the big offshore runs the Freeman’s speed is a big plus for sure. If not doing constant blue water runs the “cruiser” cats get it done with comfy ride and a big stable platform.

There's much controversy about cat's durability when used on open waters. The stress cracking problems will be difficult to solve because of the nature of forces causing them. I stand by my assessment of the fact that the deep V hull is a better offshore performer. An engineer and long time boat owner talking.
@TrappClapp
@TrappClapp 11 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Cats don't have twice the water surface. They plane or semi-plane depending on the design and they cut the waves far better than a mono hull. My passengers absolutely love the Cat ride. I've owned both and trust me; once you go Cat you never go back.
@lrossiii
@lrossiii 12 жыл бұрын
Let's think about this. Catamarans and monohulls have equal displacement for the same weight. Catamarans have deeper V hulls on average, because the don't need the stability afforded by the wide hull of a monohull. Deep V hulls have better rides. Catamarans have very deep V hulls. Catamarans have better rides, up to the point that the hulls run out of displacement, and you have reverted to a monohulll lift profile. Trust me, catamarans have better rides the vast majority of the time.
@dwetick1
@dwetick1 12 жыл бұрын
Cats have 2 times the surface area exposed to water as a monohull, so there's going to be unusual stresses...cats also don't cut the waves like monohulls. An engineer talking.

Very nice boats! Wonder how well they perform vs. a Grady White of similar size and setup? Deep V bottom cuts so smoothly from my experience. It's almost like having shock absorbers.
@Eric-zs6rd
@Eric-zs6rd 5 жыл бұрын
A grady isn't even a deep V. It's a modified V. It's not even going to be close to a catamaran. It's not even going to be close to a true deep V that ends in a 24 degree deadrise at the transom.

With the economy, a 33TE can be picked up for pennies on the dollar, but if you have any problems with the boat.......Phyllis at World Cat will give you the run-around until you get sick of dealing with the company all together. At least that is my experience.
@worldcatlemon
@worldcatlemon 12 жыл бұрын
If you buy a World Cat, you better have a fiberglass guy ready to fix the stress cracks, and tunnel cracks that have plagued these boats. Maybe the vacuum infusion has cut down on this problem, but the "Hull Warranty" I read is worthless, in my opinion.
@worldcatlemon
@worldcatlemon 12 жыл бұрын
There are numerous other Cat companies that produce a better boat, and who stand behind their boats when something is defectively built, but World Cat in my experience does everything but stand behind their boats. IMHO

NFL players went down in the gulf in an Everglades, a fine bay boat that never should have been offshore in such weather. I've owned V-hulls and will never go back after owning a cat. No comparison for deck space, ride and efficiency.
