@@TenSecondsOut My Grandfather came across a boxer in Jimmys tent when it was out in the Queensland bush and ended up training him to great success. His name, Ron Richards As a young kid I would visit the boxing gym in Erskinville on a Friday with Pa. and watch sparring sessions. Good times.

This reminds me of prison when I was a much younger less wise man. In the gym we had a boxing ring and if you had beef with someone, prison rules were if you fight in the ring there would be no punishment for either bloke from the prison authorities. You had to wear mitts and we had a ref, if one went down there was a count, it was proper boxing rules. Also it didn't matter if you won or lost (to everyone else except the loser of course), as long as you had a go that was all that mattered, you got respect. It was a great system for a prison because there was no punishment for fighting and also it stopped stabbings and people getting their heads kicked in

I watched a doco on butterbeen. In the tent boxing opened up. He talked about his demens with the alcohol and his family. They showed a lot of his fights a very good documentary.
