Narrowing Monroe is a ridiculous idea and plan. If you want more people to come downtown you NEED a road wide enough to handle the traffic. I have heard nothing but complaints. Oh, wait, one person out of a least a hundred thought it was good! When you originally presented these ideas and concepts you did NOT ask, contact or give notice in a manner that we would know what you were wanting to do!

I think they need to be more concerned about widening Verrado Way because the traffic on the southside of the freeway is ridiculous especially the costco exit or entrance

Is the City planning on building shelters for the public too ? How about taking care of the roads south of I-10 first? There is construction everywhere, 2 lines turn into 1 lane, a few hundred yards ahead its verse-visa, construction of roads over month at a time and then the roads are worse then before. Buckeye isn't even ready to deal with all that additional traffic.

How about a moratorium on solar farms and battery storage facilities? We have Palo Verde Nuclear Plant which produces enough energy for it to be sold to California. What is being allowed by the city and the county is ridiculous if this falls on the BOS folks.

Another thought….since you have a meeting tonight. You want more people to come to Buckeye and businesses, but you want to make the traffic lanes smaller to accommodate more people to come to Buckeye so that in a few years because of population growth you tear everything up again to resize the traffic lanes…??? Is this how it’s gonna go…? Please clarify. I really don’t wanna have to keep throwing my taxes at this every few years. Let’s try to do it right the first time & I don’t think we are off to a very good start.

Every city in the US who has reduced traffic lanes and speed limits to become pedestrian friendly have destroyed businesses in areas. The liberal climate cult encourages this to limit private vehicle travel. It works. People stop travelling in those areas. What liberal in Buckeye pushed this stupid idea. On a side note, the younger generation has no clue how to parallel park. Traffic will be backed up waiting for them to fail at parking.
@QueenBee-r3h5 ай бұрын
I dislike coming through Buckeye anymore. I agree this is the dumbest thing I’ve seen. What a waste of money, time, materials. I have yet to see those new parking spaces being used. Traffic is slow because of the 1 lanes. I don’t who’s coming up with these ideas but they are not helping. Just like the merging 1 lanes put in on hwy 85 where people are crossing the centerline to pass slower cars spitting rocks all over the windshields. What was wrong with a 2 lane each direction. If you’re wanting people to come to buckeye let’s get some brighter ideas. Get some businesses & events that are going to generate that. And quit raking them over the coals with fees, regulations, and a bunch of $$. We have gas stations, several Mexican restaurants, a couple $ stores, and drive through liquor stores & 1 grocery store. Sounds like a great family outing. Grab a chair from the $ store head on over to the drive through to get a burro, then head to the drive through liquor store for a drink, and grab some eggs and milk for breakfast and fuel up the ol’ wagon on the way home. Sounds like a dandy ol’ time. What is there to see and do in old Buckeye? No one cares about the new fancy lines and the 25mph. I really didn’t care for the extra parking being taken up by the landscape islands that were put in years ago. I don’t mind the trees n bushes but really the curbs weren’t needed to do that and take way extra parking. Come on. You guys need to do better and maybe rethink some of the ideas coming to the table. I’m not impressed by the lines and lower speed limit. I’m actually disappointed in the people that are making these decisions thinking this is the great reset to revive old buckeye. You guys can do better…can’t ya?!
@mrsrocky22225 ай бұрын
The fact that tax dollars and time went into this is beyond stupid. The road was fine before with 2 lanes and 35mph. Why the change? Keep old town feeling old and country not confusing and frustrating! I now hate driving downtown!

I think developing old downtown buckeye is a waste of money, that will not generate a good ROI. It would be better spending continuing to develop along the I-10 corridor between verrado way and Watson.

Can't help it, but this just made the traffic situation especially around the school way worse. Speed limit from 30 down to 25 isn't attracting people.... it sends them away. No one has time to deal with low speed or wait for ever until someone in front is able to turn due to traffic on the other lane. Downtown Buckeye has become a Needle Ore. Who the heck gets paid to make situations worse rather than better ?????

The City Of Buckeye are putting their eggs in one basket and that’s in Verrado. Verrado residence don’t even want to be considered part of Buckeye. Verrado isn’t the only area of Buckeye that wants to see growth, other residence that pay taxes want to see growth as well in their communities. The revenue needs to be distributed throughout the city of Buckeye not just Verrado & downtown. The Tartessa community has been established since 2006 way longer than Verrado and we still don’t even have commercial retail in our area. Tartessa community is in need of a gas station, grocery store and most importantly a Banner clinic and high school. Now that Teravalis community is coming soon, will Tartessa continue to be left behind?? Come on people DO BETTER!!! Lastly the City Of Buckeye/ADOT needs to stretch the street lighting on Interstate 10 “throughout” The City Of Buckeye. Majority of the traffic heads to Sun Valley Parkway to Tartessa. Sun Valley exit and the Parkway needs to be lit up at night for residence heading to and from the Tartessa community.

I like them for how massive they can become with there very unique shaded areas they produce. Every saltcedar I have ever come across (no matter how remote) has allways had beer cans underneath and other signs of people hanging out underneath them for there unique shaded areas.

Yeah I'm sick of hearing about verrado too. Is this all just for rich people? So elitist when other Buckeye residents can't enjoy the Verrado water park/pool and the only other one is downtown and so completely full of middle school kids that you can't even move around and it's unsafe for smaller children. I guess living in Westpark off Miller Rd designates us "not good enough" to swim with Verrado residents. Totally ticks me off to no end. There are no other public pools that pull that crap.

Down town dont need to be limited to one lane. Thats ridiculous. And we wanted a bowling alley But not in Verrado. Why do you city planners think its a good idea to keep packing everything in the Verrado Area? You have thousands of acres around the city to utilize so some of those retail stores and entertainment is accessible to all other residents
@TInsures8 ай бұрын
The City doesn't make the decision on what comes in, trust they shake their tailfeathers at anything that will jobs and taxable revenue to our community. The economic development team shows franchise owners, real estate brokers and large corporations ALL the available space in Buckeye, then the company chooses where they think they will have the quickest and deepest profit. It's a no brainer to build closest to the households with the most dispensable income. Think about it, you posted frustration about more retail and entertainment in your area, right under your post about struggling to find reasonable housing. If I'm a business, how can I open my doors in a "struggling" area an expect to be successful. The City is not going to refuse a permit to a business that will make a positive economic impact to the overall bottom line, in effort to force them into an area they don't want to be. Because the more more successful that new business is, the more taxes they pay to the City. Verrado has about 7 coffee shops in a 3 mile radius, clearly little thought is put in planning which retailers take up space. So what IS happening is the effort to bring in more jobs to Buckeye. Not just any jobs, but well-paying jobs that will lure the 87% of Buckeye residents who leave the Buckeye everyday to go to work, BACK to Buckeye. That will create more affordable housing and increase the average household income throughout our City, which will THEN give retailers and entertainment venues more confidence to build further from Verrado. If they do downtown Buckeye right, it will be super cute and the place people in Verrado and beyond will flock to escape all the chain restaurants coming to the highway exits. Be patient, because eventually EVERYWHERE in Buckeye will be BOOMING!
@LisaR-wb6yj8 ай бұрын
Technically, much of the new development isn't in Verrado. It's located south of I-10. From what I was told, the planners are focused on Buckeye's entertainment and retail options to also attract people from Goodyear rather than duplicate what Goodyear already has. Businesses will want to locate here for that reason. You won't achieve that if it's located in downtown. It's better that Buckeye is successful, especially considering tax dollars generated.
@RoxanneFuller-ye2cf8 ай бұрын
No it's considered Verrado north of the I-10. That's why it's called Verrado Market Place. And to be honest duplicating is exactly what's happening with the target & Ross.
@LisaR-wb6yj8 ай бұрын
I think you're confused about the area I'm talking about. Yes, Verrado Marketplace is going on the North side. The Commons and The Landing are going in on the SOUTH side. The point is that the plan is more attractive for businesses when it will serve multiple cities.@RoxanneFuller-ye2cf
@jimhorn93858 ай бұрын
You talk about bringing in a number of new businesses to Old Town, then you do an about face with a plan to starve them with limited access for vehicles. That's poor planning. You need to offer more lanes, not California styled limited access. Use another street for one-way lanes and make main street a one way. "THIMK!" is what I've taught students and subordinates. Try it!
