Recently finally done fallout 4 and I can say that I liked the story, it was not perfect but rich and good, that music touched me at the end of my playthrough for BoS, and I was really sorry for Shaun, who was kidnapped and grown by the Institute. In general, despite that people say that the story is awful, I think it's very good. P. S. my walkthrough has lasted since the release of the game, I just always started the new game

The Institute really is the most interesting and compelling faction within Fallout 4, and possibly even through the series. It feels fundamentally wrong and evil working for them, they do things that are very clearly morally wrong. Yet at the same time, you can really understand their motivators and mission by siding with them regardless. They view the synths as machines they built and as such don’t really see them as people but as more of a resource. Ones they could be used for the betterment of society if utilized properly. Them actually going rogue is something they’re against. And while it’s true that some rogue synths don’t deserve it. Others such as DiMa prove that rogue synths can in fact become incredibly deadly if left unchecked. They’ve come up with amazing inventions and resources that could really redeem the commonwealth, possibly even America as a whole. They clearly wish to preserve the best of humanity within their ranks to ensure a better future. It’s just a matter of how they conduct themselves in regards to morale, and how they treat the wastelanders of the commonwealth more like guinea pigs and experiments rather than people. Which is the same logic used for really sinister things by Vault-Tec. For me at least, it all makes the Institute less of a villain faction like the Enclave. And more of a really valuable resource to the people if not for the fact it’s mismanaged and being utilized in the wrong ways by the people in charge. Because objectively if the Institute worked with the people, it could easily fix so many of the Commonwealths problems. Hence why I see blowing it up as still incredibly morally grey. Yes the boogieman of the Institute is gone, but alongside it all the valuable technology and clever minds similar to Doctor Mari who was largely responsible for the Brotherhood’s success in their own ending. In the end, if Fallout had a “best ending”, I would see it being you leading the Institute and leading the way forward to a better future for the entirety of the Commonwealth, and possibly even the entire wasteland.

If only they used their technology to aid the people of Commonwealth instead of evil purposes, like viewing it as their own personal petri dish and playing god, then maybe they wouldn't've gotten nuked by the Minutemen. They would be regarded as heroes, saviors!

After years I'm still conflicted to choose Institute or Brotherhood. With Brotherhood you get Danse one of the best companions as his power armor never decays and he can carry more than Cait. Institute doesn't really give you cool rewards but will be the better choice for the Commonwealth and Earth to get life back up on the planet.

He was actually going to survive the nuke completely. After regaining consciousness and limping outside as you were crippled, you would receive the missions: "Get radiation equipment", "Locate Commanding Officer" and "Find secure overhead cover", but these was unfortunately scrapped. A shame. Paul Jackson instead died due to be exposed to the radiation from the nuclear explosion. Or from major blood loss. I guess the health regeneration system what modern Call of Duty games were malfunctioned.

TRIVIA: *At first when Alex gets off the stretcher, there's a clock in that room. It's the only clock in the game that seems to work, it wasn't even two o'clock in the morning yet. then there's an entity that's killing the doctors of the place, and when the protagonist tries to escape at 2:06 in the morning (time of the accident) something doesn't let him out of alchemilla. so the nightmare begins within the nightmare, from there time's stopped and everything takes place in alex's childhood in S.Glen in the 80's. you'll see objects from alex's childhood scattered around the scenarios, and also relics such as old cars and public heritages. in this case this game is timeless.. (however there're endings where he actually escaped from hospital)* *When you arrive in S.Glen, next to Dr.fitch's office there's the city bank with 4 lights on, 3 of which're bright and the last one's almost off (symbolizing the 4 families). Suggesting that the bank's still active with secret meetings, throughout the game the building remains linked with people on the premises arguing who knows what. It's one of the mysteries of the game that everything's abandoned but the financial part of the city's still in full swing! kidnappings have become a kind of business...* *if you look at alex's house from the outside, it's empty giving the impression that the shepherds have moved but when you enter the house, it's fully furnished but completely abandoned (the mirrors still reflect no furniture inside). looking through the backyard in the kitchen part this becomes more apparent (giving a paranormal air of the house being an ancestral ghost of the city).* *the woman locked in the hotel can also be the manifestation of alex's mother living in the world of the dead and him living in the world of the living, both're separated by a hole in the door that looks like the mouth of a monster. the 3 memories illustrate "the day of the accident" and why his mother was catatonic, it's implied that she committed suicide with that old gun and alex's at his doorstep talking to her. there're layers of SH that you can only reach if you're dead.. (there're also indications that it was curtis who built the machine that Lillian is trapped in, then it's possible to see his mother's corpse smiling.. of relief perhaps)* *in the dr.fitch office there's an underground passage that leads to SH, this otherworld passage's the mix of a hospital and the institution that alex's in at the beginning of the game. some hallways're the same as the protagonist walks in the prologue. It's also more apparent that Alex's exploring the characters' minds and their memories\secrets..* *this game starts in the late afternoon and culminates in a red dawn, it's notable that there's a change of climate similar to the original games. it was the first time anyone came out during the otherworld outdoors, alex was the only protagonist who saw the parallel world from the outside.* *There're Alex's toys locked in the attic of the house (also in the audio of the tape, Alex's father tells him to "go down the stairs") implying that Alex was locked in the attic and forced to sleep alone there (a dark place full of spider webs and venomous animals) in the infernal version, there're 4 monsters that represent each member of the family (in the attic there're 3 schism which're the dead Josh, the catatonic mother and Alex crouched in the corner of the attic) and in the lower part of the house there're the more aggressive schism who is alex's father. What confirms this symbolism're the four mannequins that're in the same position (including one lying down and the other propped up in the corner).* *if you analyze the drawings and read the descriptions, it's understood that there's an urban legend in S.Glen related to the lake (that's why the docks gate's sealed) by an alleged man who threw himself into toluca lake years ago, this story was told to scare the local children and this collective fear manifests itself as the executioner that exists in the game. So in the part where alex's with josh at the lake, james's still decomposed there in the depths and on the other side of the lake's possibly the abandoned car with a dead body locked in back seat. James' wife belongs to the same family tree as Alex (The Shepherds) although they're not related (in a promotional diary: Alex's mother was invited to attend a funeral for a childhood friend, but the funeral never took place) There's a misterious tomb named "someone's wife" in the Dargento Cemetery, but this grave has never been used. (The shepherd family mausoleum is not found in S.Glen, only the other 3 families. However, there's an abandoned mausoleum in central SH)* *Next to Curtis' junkyard's an abandoned mine that possibly became a secret passage to SH in the final stage of the game. The lair was where people were taken to be tortured and killed by order. it's located in the basement of the church, the only sacred place in the city where it's not affected by the other world. In Curtis' warehouse, many belongings of everyone who lived in the city're hidden and also the special clothes that Curtis wore.* *There're x-rays in alchemilla that show injuries that the protagonist suffered at the end of the game (including the brother and judge) means that this game's upside down: it starts at the end and ends at the beginning, if you reverse the acts, it's alex going from the day of the accident to the hospitalization in alchemilla in the prologue. crazy huh? (Travis was tasked with transporting the patient since he was familiar with Toluca County and worked at Brahms Station, Alex's parents lied to the city that he was promoted to the army so they wouldn't lose their last son) still characteristic the journey starts in a way and turns into a whirlwind.. there's a real pyramid involving judges, politicians, doctors and police forces\dynastic families (as if everything happens in our world and not just in a nightmare).* The layers of Alex personality are represented by fog (sadness) and coming from the other world (hatred esentment), how he feels at every moment depending on what is discovered evealed. This game is introspective as f00k! more than it seems...

I doubt the father is innocence, just like Richard Grady on Origins. The main plot of Homecoming is the abuse of Adam to their sons and wife. Adam punched Alex a lot, Lillian didn't do anything almost like a shadow, and Josh, well that's the creepy part, since he saw The Boogeyman, or The faceless man, kids that saw this monster, that's a sign of abuse by someone with authority, that means a teacher, another student, a preacher, a neighbor, or someone for their own family. This explained also the presence of Robbie the rabbit. This game is very sad, bc Alex is very young, but SH showed the protagonist the truth, that's why there are two graveyards in the game, but also Dargento cementary is the only graveyard in the whole saga, something very important is in there. And seems to be that Adam buried his son there, but not Josh, Alex. The place is split in three garden: the moon, the sun, and Janus, that means the place where the youth is lying, very sad game indeed. In the good ending, Alex leave the town along Elle and Wheeler, but there is an important clue, that Double Helix of course knew, they are in the fog world, that isn't the real world. So that means when Elle, and Wheeler enter in the real world, Alex probably wasn´'t with them. Then in a secret scene at the credits, we saw a completely different reality, and the real plot twist. The player enter in the house, but seems like a ghost flooting and try to reach the room of the kids, then we saw Josh alive, and he took a picture of Alex, the same photo that Alex found in the attic. So that explained the whole game, Alex and Josh went to the lake, to talk about The Ring, Alex forced with Josh, Josh tried to get back the ring, he knocked his head, and fall to the lake, Alex jumped in the water, and rescue him, but the water was too cold, and like Jack in the Titanic, he can't return to the boat, so he drowned. That explained the scene at the credits, Josh was wet, but survived thanks to Alex. Adam took his son, and buried in the Dargento Cementary, then by the power of town Alex returned like Maria on SH2, just by the wish of Josh, so this reverse the whole thing, Josh always is afraid from Alex bc he is a ghost, so this plot twist is more like The others. Alex is like Lisa, and Josh is like Harry, that really makes this game more interesting. Seems to me that this was the mistake of Double Helix, they should showed two realities in this game, in one gameplay Josh drowned, in a second gameplay Alex drowned, this will leave more clear the concept. The plot is too ambiguous, we don't need to forget that Alex almost drowned one time as a kid, also there are signs of an arificial lung in the hospital, that's use when someone dive too deep, and try to reach the surface too soon, that could be sign that Alex did rescue his brother, but failed to rescue himself.

Honestly, Shaun was the reason the institute ended up so flawed. He shut down the cybernetics project, refused to believe even for a moment that synths could be sentient, and ordered the deaths of many innocent people. The best thing he did as director was shutting down the FEV experiments.

What kinda bums me out is that there was more to the aftermath mission that got cut, in the cut part jackson would've survived and had to do the objectives "find radioactive equipment" and "locate commanding officer" and "find overhead cover", i kinda hoped they would've added it as a possible thing in MWR but they didn't.

In new Vegas I sided with Mr. House. In FO4 the institute. Both of their views on getting humanity back on track was hard not to agree with. And being as Mr. House was a CIT alumni, could you imagine what could be achieved if house and the institute were somehow in contact with each other?
