How’s it holding up so far? I got a wheel bearing that’s shot on an 81 DL. Debating on sending it out to a shop to get it done rather than me fiddling with it in a shed.

Have they always been defensive? We work with african bees that can be very defensive at times but their temperament changes throughout the year. What do you burn in your smoker?
@theSam912 ай бұрын
Yes, always defensive, this one seems to get worse every year. Smoker I use a tight coil of cardboard in the bottom with fresh eucalyptus/aussie native leaves on top of that. The cardboard smoulders long enough to dry out the fresh leaves which become the fuel when the cardboard is used up. Keep adding fresh leaves on top as needed, it can last all day this way. African bees, you are brave!
@kingdombees_kzn2 ай бұрын
@@theSam91 I like your plan with the euc leaves on top of the cardboard. I'm going to try that. We use rolled up cardboard or eucalyptus leaves or casuarina needles. We have had to euthanise colonies due to capensis infestation so we use Fostoxin tablets. Place a tablet in each hive entrance at night and close the entrances. Next morning all the bees are dead and there is no residue of the chemical left in the hive after 2 or 3 days. You can usaully buy them at co-op farmers stores.

I have 2 mean hives that I have had for years! I don't like messing with them. I have tried requeening them three times with no success! I can say that they are great honey producer's and are very tolerant to mites! They are not that aggressive though! WOW!!!!! I would have to agree with you and get rid of them! You don't want them introducing their genetics into your other hives!

Wow ,... That's amazing .I think I'd requeen my whole apiary with calmer genetics so you'd have calmer bred drone genetics otherwise as you so they'll just get meaner .
@theSam912 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. But when I started beekeeping, good quality genetics/bred queens were not available for sale. Now they are available online but I'm not in the habit of buying queens every year.

Very interesting! From memory, the tip should be spherical with a radius of .005" for 78 RPM. As for damage, in the old days you were supposed to change the steel needles each time you played a record but who did that? Shellac records comprise graphite and slate powder in addition so don't think bamboo will wear that out. Keep up the good work!

These cars would have been mint if they all had constant 4wd with a center locking diff and an engine with 4x the power. Saddens me to think of the time, effort and money dumped into this just for it to make 60kw.
@theSam918 ай бұрын
There is an AWD gearbox with center locking diff same vintage as my current box, super rare in Aus though. Power increase wasn't even in my top 3 goals for this project so I'm happy either way.

@@theSam91 yeah the awd box should have been standard across the range instead of just being on the gl-10s/ xt's and as long as your truly happy that's all that matters, clean build as always mate

Am using the Subaru harness off 2000 Subaru 2.5 in 1986 vw westy that was modified. I get a check engine code p0122 tps low voltage.which is causing high ide 1600 never gos down I replace everything in the engine sensor throttle body went through the harness I’ve been trying to figure this out now for a year .I did buy a haltech 1500 when I started this project but I ended up using Subaru stock harness thinking that it would be nice and smooth but no. I see you are using 750 haltech how difficult was it to wire and the programming. Appreciate any advice you have thanks again Martin from the states.
@theSam918 ай бұрын
Not difficult to wire into the stock Subaru engine harness if you know how to crimp and have a factory wiring diagram. Although I did end up re-making the engine harness from scratch but simplified (see part 9) Connectors for everything on the engine are available from iWire in the USA. In regards to programming, I'm a total noob with ECU tuning. I only managed to get it to run, just with the base map. I got it to a dyno session as soon as I could.
