Thank you very much for the video! Very helpful - information is good and clear and camera work is done well. One thing that would be awesome would be to provide the part numbers, quantity and torque specs. Small detail but makes videos that much more helpful and really adds value. Another helpful thing I find in videos like these is showing the struggle of getting a part out or a nut/bolt loosened. Helps to see what ultimately worked for you and highlight at least one option for a potential challenge. Mistakes or confusion is very relatable to don't feel like it needs to be excluded.

If I recall correctly they are 15in wheels. The Valiant came standard with 14in wheels in 1967 but the originals were swapped out with the 15in Duster wheels by a previous owner.

The exhaust sound on 6 cylinder engines are notorious for resonance noise which is incredibly irritating. So always consider adding a resonator...either new or from the junk yard...it removes the negative resonance noise vibe.

From the limited research I have done, the makeup of the "hybrid" engine oil is different than synthetic oil but not by much. Hybrid oil should be fine to run but I would follow the manufactures specifications on the next oil change.

Thanks for the video! Didn't know if I wanted to tackle this myself. Is the torque wrench 100 percent necessary? What would I risk not using one?
@rustbucketproductions6 ай бұрын
No the torque wrench is not necessary but you don't want to overtighten as it may deform the washers on the spark plug or even crack the ceramic. Likewise if it is too loose the plug could start to back out.

The issue with some of these videos is that anyone who's new to replacing the TPS won't know that when you pull the old or bad TPS off, the pins on the throttle body are under pressure, and they'll spin about an 1/8" maybe a little more. Then when you put your new TPS on, the throttle receives to much fuel and at start up the engine will race. I learned this the hard way. In the future, please add all the important details like that. Great job on the camera placement.
@rustbucketproductions6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I was unaware of the spin that you were referring too, but I think that makes sense as I had to rotate the TPS to get it to line up upon install.

@gop4usa127 ай бұрын
The best part of doing your own oil changes is you're in control of the process. You know what oil is being poured into the engine. You know that the old oil completely got drained. And as far as the air filter goes, it's a good idea to check it every oil change because you never know when a rodent may have gotten in and chewed thru the fiber.

Don’t be afraid of the miles man. Especially highway. They say 10 city miles = 1 highway mile. Just change your tranny fluid every 60K and oil obviously I drive an 03 Toyota w 320,000 miles…anyway I put 3500 miles on mine every month. Taken it on 16 rd trips. Just take care of them and they’ll last 500K easy Oh…I had a buddy that had your exact truck. Head gasket blew at 428,000. Stay on top of your radiator, maybe replace it, and you won’t have the head gasket issue. Good luck!
@rustbucketproductions6 ай бұрын
Just breaking it in as most Toyota owners say! I try to stay up to date on the maintenance as much as I can, still have a few repairs that need to be knocked out. 500k is a ways off but I have seen other 3rd gens do it!
@rustbucketproductionsАй бұрын
I have tried to stay up to date with all maintenance, though I am sure there are a few things I have missed here and there. The radiator was replaced around 75k miles ago so I am not too worried it will fail but am well aware of the potential pink milkshake issue that can arise.

How much does the ride suffer in the S compared to the L or LE because of the lower profile tires? Also, how would you rate the ride of the S overall?
@rustbucketproductions9 ай бұрын
I believe that the suspension in the S model is a bit stiffer than the L or LE from the factory. Additionally similar to what you noted the ride will be a bit more hard due to the lower profile tire on the larger wheels that come on the S.
