I remember when I started watching Days around this time (although, I started much earlier) I thought Days had the most beautiful cast. It was very Y&R. The cast was stunning. There was Anna, Gwen, Hope and Marlena. The guys were all these rugged guys like Don, Neil, Roman, Tony (with his shirt buttons down to his navel….LOL!!!) and, Bo. Days was on fire in the 80’s (as were all the soaps) but I thought Kristian Alfonso (she’s like a year older than me) was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. I thought for sure she was so much older than me. Friends and Lovers indeed.

Is that Tony or Andre with Stefano? Stefano is calling him "my friend" and Tony is not calling Stefano "Father".

Neil Curtis must have been a major character back in the 70s and 80s. And the Brooke character, with her dark features, she really stands out.
@jaredjlindenКүн бұрын
Adrienne LaRussa (Brooke) was a unique, charismatic performer. They recast the Brooke role after LaRussa left the series and it was not the same. LaRussa later turned up in a minor role on General Hospital in the early 80s, but I never saw her after that. I understand she went into real estate after leaving acting.

The writers are clearly struggling with how to use Doug and Julie, who had powered the show through the 70s. I think they only lasted a few more months before they disappeared on an around the world cruise.

This is such a radical departure for what you see now on Days of our Lives. I vaguely remember this version of the show before they decided to overhaul everything to save it from cancellation in 1981. The sophistication in writing and production values are obviously superior here than what you see today. However, if they hadn't changed to what it is now I have no doubt it wouldn't be on the air today.
