I think tha😢t during irs early years as a 15-minute soap, LOVE OF LIFE spent more time focusing on commercials than on the story line.

Ted is a bonafide creep. I think he got off on emotionally torturing Meta and Chucky. He is the blueprint for the toxic male.

Chucky… was gay.

And I don’t mean that to be mean, funny, or provoking, but I honestly feel the Phillips soaps have more subtext than we know, because Irna Phillips herself was an interesting and shrewd person. There is this obsessive perception by his father Ted himself to make Chucky “a man”, it’s like leave the kid alone, he’s barely double-digits in his age. And Ted himself comes off as a sadist. Very artfully cast and written to justify where the story goes, and why.

Ypu know something !! NBC should be sued for cancelling/divorcing Days Of Our Lives after 57 years on regular tv. If it were up to me--Days Of Our Lives would STILL BE ON REGULAR TV TODAY!! IT WOULD EITHER BE AIRING EITHER ON CBS OR MAYBE ABC OR SOME OTHER NETWORK--BUT DEFINITELY NO MORE NBC OR THAT PEACOCK!! That rotten garbage network NBC has as much heart as a dead roach in a garbage can next to a dead rat!!

According to an AI search, "According to various sources that track television history and soap opera casts, it is estimated that over 2,000 different actors have appeared on “Days of Our Lives” since its inception in 1965."

Great memories of Mary and "Search" over the years. I remember the Christmas programs with Stu and Marge. Death came to my own family shortly after this show. Lynn (Patty) Loring recently passed. Arthur Tate and Sam Reynolds have moved on. Mary was the anchor that held the show together, and was a continuing inspiration to my own mother throughout the years.

My Nana, who always lived with us, used to watch various soaps off and on. I remember this one, Search for Tomorrow, and I think The Edge of Night for awhile. So I would see them once in awhile if I was home sick or on school vacation or somethiing. Usually I didn't really watch, they were kind of background. I was ten in 1961. Watching to see if I even recognize anybody.

❤ What a wonderful surprise. I watched GL from 1984 to series finale in 2009. Springfield Illinois. This was my favourite soap. I truly miss my family and friends yet l know they are safe in the memories that we hold. We all can be Light Houses , if we allow our beacons to shine. Remember that what we put into the Light comes back on its own. Following the Guiding Light in coastal Mississippi 🎉
