One would be hard pressed to design a more dangerous activity than amateur criterium racing.

Kudos from a 52-year-old Cat. 3. I raced Tulsa in 2019 when a 3 could do Masters A's, but only Saturday and Sunday. That was a hoot. Y'all really have something special there in Tulsa.

Thanks man! As a 51 year old myself, it was all I could handle this year! Fun to push myself against 15-22 year olds and beat some of them! I plan to do Masters B on the weekend and Cat3 Friday next year. Thanks for watching.

I think it was more the wind on the last leg, before the start/finish climb, a steady 15-18 with higher gusts I think. Both hills were fairly short and punchy....but def took it's toll. It was a fun course!

Criteriums are like a bad joke and easy way to get injured.. You take 50+ riders, put them a narrow space, going 20-40mph,and then you let them push and shove. Next thing you have bike parts, water bottles, whole bikes,and bleeding cyclists. How does that make sense?
@michaels8607 Жыл бұрын
First was on purpose..Inside rider leaned in with his shoulder..second one was rider avoiding a rider already down..third one was inside rider leaning and pushing,trying to shove him off the road..

Yea I think he unclipped in his sprint...we didn't touch until his weight shifted into my direction....we weren't rubbing or anything. Clean by both of us...just unfortunate...ugh. I think he broke his wrist...but not collar bone. Hope he heals quickly..he's from OKC, somewhat local to our race scene.
@becerra2293 Жыл бұрын
Didn’t un clip, guy that got second deviated 5 feet to my side and pushed the guy next to him and me which was the guy who ended up getting 3rd into my handlebars! Broke my wrist and getting surgery thanks to that idiot that can’t keep a clean line in a sprint 🤦🏻♂️

Some of the smartest racing I've seen in a Cat 4 race in a very long time. Being patient, moving up without wasting energy, taking good lines the whole race. Pretty impressive racing IMO

Congrats Trey! Patience paid off. I really liked the editing for this, splicing in shots from the live stream. That wreck early in corner one though, ugh. That kid was down a while.
@TreyCoursey Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I felt really good, mainly because I wasn't chasing things down and being patient...thought we went too early in the last corner, but so glad I did...because that was the ticket! I was taking that corner better than many and making up spots the entire race on the outside line....I hesitated just a moment if you see, but then pulled the trigger and decided to SEND IT in the true nature of the Tulsa Tough title this year!
@jph1200 Жыл бұрын
@@TreyCoursey That outside line can be a gamble. Good way to move up if it's open, but if someone wipes out inside of you, they could slide right into you. It worked really well the whole race though. Well played!
@TreyCoursey Жыл бұрын
@@jph1200 oh for sure...I totally agree. I can't control it, but I def keep an eye for things like that...If I began to feel people were coming up and making it sketchy I would have def played it differently. For the most part it was fast enough we kept it fairly strung out, or at min didn't have dive bombers wanting to take it faster....saw a bad crash in the masters race from a ridiculous dive bomb!
@cwtkbd Жыл бұрын
Yup, that was me that went down corner 1. I was on outside line, guy off my left shoulder (on inside line) changed his line right into me, forced me wider. Risk of taking the outside line!

They were ok, no issues with bike or limb. Just unfortunate to have happened the way it did.

Thank you for sharing these. I'm getting to see this style of riding through your videos. It's so suspenseful cause your going so fast. And I'm watching the tires of the people around you, thinking. How do they put that much trust in each other to not suddenly crazy swerve and wreck everyone. So much confidence in yourself and the ones around you. It's intense to watch. I enjoy it.
