There is no more a correlation between energy use and well being than there is between gdp and energy use or well being and gdp. The reason physicists have graphs is for social reasons that they don't understand, because society is not precise. I'm not an atom in a black body experiment. This is not a zero sum game. The only thing we know for certain is the one thing physicists refuse to bring to consciousness. They are afraid because of the emotion the realization brings. Necessary changes for transformation: 1.Restructuring of fiscal policy both for redistribution and for local areas rather than all tax being held centrally 2. Major change in credit from supporting institutions into financing habitation 3. Transition from market driven to policies of inclusion 4. Big shift in governance/government to local, especially participatory budgeting via citizens’ assemblies. Local democracy brings about skills learning. BUT is this economically viable? Yes, certainly and will encourage innovation. Feasible - in our current capitalist model? Yes: as buildings are remodelled through the ages, so capitalism certainly can be also - though the extremely rich will resist! Mobilisation and struggle will be involved and the diverse movements need to coalesce, recognising that they are engaged in a common project of democratisation, though such a project would take decades.
