I just recently upgraded my Kicker CVR to a Sundown SA 12 V2. I'm very pleased overall. Throughout my life I've had Kickers, JL's, and Rockford Fosgates. But for the most part it was alwayz Kickers. Since 1993/1994. So far..... Rock music is not so loud with the Sundown. It doesn't hit the high bass like Kickers do. And alwayz Rock music sounds better with two subs than one. Now, with that said. When it comes to the low bass. This is where Sundown shines! The lows hits harder and smoother.

This box is way too small for 3x drivers this size. You'd get better lows and dB with a single driver on this volume than the 3x here.

I've done the same testing and your spot on the kickers deliver a tight clean firm bass...the sundown's give you a deeper looser bass that rumbles...I've used all the sundown from 10" down and they all share the same characteristic...deep low rumble bass vented...if your a metal. rock , fast music person go with the kickers...if you like deep low thumpie authoritative bass go with Sundowns. The DC audio sub are more refined version of the sundown drivers...smash the lows but more musical on top...the DD audio drivers are somewhere in the middle....they deliver powerful strong hard hitting bass with all music but if you play bass music they really take over the cabin....4 1506 subs in .50 each at 28-32" of port tuned to 35 just hits hard....be warned you need some power to run those up...i have a 3k on 4 of them and they take it easily....i venture to say you could put a 4k or 5k on them and tune it back slightly and really get a strong punch.

Super Clean Truck

I came across a JL engineer's comment on these shallow subs. He said that the sound quality should be just as good as any of their higher end subs, they just won't be as loud because of their lack of size. Essentially just add another one if you want volume, but they'll sound clean.
